So has all the recent gang activity slowed the hobby down there?

I was down there recently to visit and in a 24 hours period, they killed four cops and seriously wounded 2.  Shit is bad down there but it is mostly in the outskirts of town.  Although one did take place at a crowded intersection.  I did visit with Perla from Team Juanita and I had a pleasant experience.  I decided to check out the strip and saw that it was nearly empty.  There were practically no tourists on Revolution.  I went to the red zone which looked busy as always and I visited Adelitas for shits and giggles.  I have to say there were a lot of girls just standing around.  In my opinion, a combination of the violence and the economy has affected the business down there.  I would say it is still relatively safe in TJ as long as you don't venture out too far.  But who knows how long the tourist areas will be spared.

of visiting in 2 weeks when in SD on business.  It will my first trip since 1996 - so any other data greatly appreciated.

I spend a lot of time (like 3-5 days per week) in Tijuana.  (Don't you wish you lived in or near TJ!)

The killings have not significantly impacted the "sex trade."  Tourism, however, is down due to:
--The US economy taking a nose dive
--The "passport requirement"
--The mistaken belief that going to TJ is dangerous

There is a war going on between rival cartels.  It is sort of like Chicago during prohibition.  The people who need to worry are cartel members and those (like cops) associated with cartel members.

You're in a lot more danger tripping and falling after one beer too many than you are getting caught in a cross fire.  Especially since there hasn't been any violence in the Zona or in the tourist district.

The media making more out of something than it is.

Thanks for the straight poop.

You should have known that ahead of time. How many of you live in Los Angeles (me)?? Ok, now how many of your relatives think you live in the middle of gang riots and drive by shootings etc etc etc.

The world looks a lot more violent on the news than it is in reality.

I was talking to someone who lives in Israel and they said the same thing. Their country seems like this violent warzone where you can be killed at any moment. He said to me, now imagine if every single murder, every single one was reported every single day. People would never step foot in this country if every single murder, gang related or not,  is reported like it is for foreign countries.
