Yesterday, Friday 6/15 the line to cross back to the US was out of the building, down the street, up a side street to the east and back, and out beyond the overpass.  Took almost two hours to get through.  Any ideas why the line was so long on a Friday afternoon as it was not any of the times that I have read about to avoid?  Did I miss something?  Thanks for your input.

I'm guessing that was the line to walk back. Yikes.
What time did you cross,,or start to cross?

the 1st and 15th of the month always have a lot of traffic going both ways.  lots of people coming into Tijuana and into local spots and bars to spend the money they just got paid.

lot of people coming from Tijuana into the States to go shopping and spend the money they got paid.

any prostitute in Tijuana will tell you that the 1st and 15th are some of their best times of the month, ESPECIALLY when it's a Thursday - Saturday.

I was there on Friday night and the selection was very good, much better than a week earlier.  I crossed the border at midnight and it took 2 minutes.

I got in line at 1PM.  Thanks for all of your input as I have only been a few times.  Will make sure to avoid Fridays around the 15th and 31st from now on.

The military gets paid on the 1st and 15th and maybe one day before those dates. It all depends what day of the week they land on.  Your best bet to go is at least 4 days before these days. 26, 27, 28, and 29th or 10, 11, 12, and 13th.

Wow, I was down there for the afternoon but for various reasons ended up staying until 9 instead of going back around 4 like I had intended.  I'm glad I waited!  The line for me was only about 20-30 minutes total by that time.

I only cross: Walking, from 6 am -9 am. 9 pm or later.
Driving: after 11 pm to 6 am...
Never had to wait more than 15. min.. exclude hollydays....
I only do this 'cause I hate the wait...

I miss the days when I had a girlfriend in TJ, so I would be there all weekend and leave about 3am Monday morning to drive straight to work. :)

it all depends.  i was crossing one time at around 2am.  the SENTRI lane closes at midnight in San Ysidro.  i waitied for over an hour.

there's a sweet spot in there where they have a lot of lanes open but it's late.  when they start closing down the lanes and really really grilling each driver, you can have 50 cars in the line, but they spend 60-90 seconds per car.  do the math and that's not a lot of fun.
