CA driver's license AND copy of birth certificate is good enough. But you better hurry because the bar scene will be dead from a couple day before Christmas to New Year.

As stated, currently a DL and birth certificate is all you need. If you don't have a birth certificate you'll just get a lecture. Supposedly in mid-2009 they will begin issuing fines to those the second and subsequent time you cross without a passport or passcard.
