I was just wondering if you need a passport when you walk across the boarder. I know that you need it when you fly but is it required if you walk. Thanks
At this time you do not need a passport to walk or drive across the border from Mexico or Canada. It doesn't hurt to have one but you can use a Gov't issued photo ID to return back into the USA. The last I heard, it keeps changing, is starting sometime next year you will need a passport.
At present you do not need a passport to visit Tijuana on foot or by car. The border crossing passport requirement keeps getting pushed back. The last I heard it won't go into effect until June 2009.
