I'm golfing with some friends down in TJ on Monday. Figure we'll be done about 4:00pm. Are any of the clubs (Adelita's etc.) open then? Which would be our best bet at that time? How would I get there coming north on the toll road? Any help for a newbie would be appreciated.
and is your BEST BET. Monday afternoons are fine, better than you'd think it'd be. Hong Kong is slower as far as patrons, but you might find some nice girls there, also. Chicago Club is wayyy slow in the daytime.
Not sure how you get there from the toll road, as I'm always coming from the border. The Zona is only about 1 mile from the border, so you gotta get back at least that close, lol.
Adelita's is open in the late morning and will be going strong in the later afternoon. Hong Kong club should also be going strong along with Miami club too. If you speak some Spanish, Bar Tropical or Las Chavelas should be fun too. I just know land marks to get to the Zone from the toll road. There is the main highway that you go to the golf courses that leads you to the toll road is the one that parallels the border fence. There's the steep hill and you go about 2 miles down and see the fire station on your right hand side as you head towards the border, Make a right turn at the first street after the fire station. Look for Coahuilla, that's the street Adelita's is on. I always park either next to the Pollo Bar or across the street from Chicago Club. Be careful and obey all speed and traffic laws since it will be obvious you're an American and there is a possibllity you may get pulled over and hassled a bit since you don't know the area well.
OK, my first question is are you playing at TJ Country Club? (Club Campestre) If so, they are usually not open on Monday unless you are playing in a tournament. I made reservations for a Monday, confirmed them the Thursday before and when the 12 guys showed up, the course was closed! You ‘gotta love Mexico.
My favorite Mexican vacation is Golf and Adelitas. I think that Sunday is the best day by far at Adelitas because the weekend girls are there and it is not so crowded. There is plenty of action at 4-5 PM on a Sunday but it really gets going a little later. Adelitas is a welcome relief after Club Campestre beats the shit ‘outta me!
Club Campestre is on Agua Caliente. Follow Agua Caliente towards the border until it curves right and turns into Revolucion. Turn left onto Emiliano Zapata or Carrillo Puerto and take an immediate right on Constitution. Turn left on Coahuila and Adelitas is 1/2 block down on the left. Drive past Adelitas and just after the first stop sign, there is a great parking lot at the first driveway on the right. 5 bucks to park and walk back to Nirvana! In case you can’t tell, I’ve played a few bad rounds at TJ and then played some great rounds at Adelitas.
PM me if you want some more golf / mongering info in TJ or Rosarito.
They all know it and take people there all the time. play it smart but once you get inside the club, English is a second language spoken well at the club. you should be okay.
I was just there on Tuesday and helped a couple of kids find the Promised Land.
