I am planning to work in Downtown San Diego.  I am on a limited budget right now because I just go out of school.  While I'd like to live in TJ, I wanted to ease my way down there.  

In the meantime, where is the best place in terms of housing.  I want to spend about $400-$500 per month for a room in a decent house.  Preferrably close to the Trolley.

Good luck!  Ironically , your best bet for something that inexpensive is closest to TJ.  Try the San Ysidro area.  It's very close to the trolley and TJ.

If I were you, I'd get a decent place, cheaper than $500 in TJ, get a Sentri Pass and commute.

You'll save a lot more money in the long run

I live about a mile from the border, and pay $300.00 per month for a two bedroom apartment.
