Thanks for all of the info on visiting TJ  I'm loking forward to my first visit next week.

Is it advisable to get a hotel room for the night and stay near the club area?

I haven't seen any recomended.

there are tons of hotels around the Zone and through out TJ.
It depends on how sound of a sleeper you are and how picky you are concerning your surroundings.

If I were you, I'd pick Cascadas hotel, the official hotel for Miami and Hong Kong club. It's a little quieter there depending on what floor you are put on.

I've never stayed in a Zona hotel, but from all accounts, it is definitely to your advantage to do so if you are comfortable there. I need more peace and quiet to sleep which means I forfeit the easy room action. I stay at the Zaragosa or Pueblo Amigo.

The dawctors post describes my feelings well.  I never stay in the Zona as there is too much noise when it comes time to sleep. Zaragosa is a good choice in that part of TJ. In the Zona Rio I like the Hotel Lucerna.  (AAA discount brings the price to $75.00+ depending on the time of year, etc.)  I recommend the Rivoli in the Hotel Lucerna as a nice, upscale place to eat.  Good service, nice piano music (after 7PM), soft lighting, etc.  I have fond memories of time spent there with somebody special.
