Hey Burt,  You said you take Viagra.  Ever try the others like Cialis?  I think I've reached the age where I need alittle help in that dept.  What dosage should a newbie start with?

Since you asked…

I’ve tried Viagra, Calais, and Levitra, which are all the erectile dysfunction (ED) medications currently on the market.  Of the three I prefer Levitra.

I’ll conclude with my personal experiences, but first I want to make some general comments.  Viagra was a research “accident.”  The lab guys were developing a new medication to treat high blood pressure and found one with an interesting side effect.  Cialis and Levitra are copy cat drugs.  They are all marketed for their side effect, but don’t forget they all do stuff to your blood pressure and interact with lots of other medications.  Don’t take them if you are on some types blood pressure medications or anything else that contains nitrates.  Guys have died and/or had strokes mixing Viagra, etc. with street drugs, alcohol, or prescription medication.  ED drugs are clearly medications that should be used cautiously and under the supervision of a competent physician.  (In the past couple of years I know of three guys who have had strokes and/or died in TJ by mixing ED drugs with other stuff.)

Common side effects with all the ED meds include headaches, dry mouth and/or flushed face.  They work best when taken on an empty stomach.  Fatty food (like lobster with melted butter) and alcohol may counteract their effectiveness.  So watch what you eat and how much you drink.  I find it a prudent practice to take a couple of Aspirin the same time I take one of these meds as sometimes they give me headaches.

You can buy ED medications at almost any pharmacy in Tijuana without a prescription.  In general, the prices are highest at the border and on Revolución.  I usually buy them at Discount Pharmacy at about 6th and Constitutción or at the pharmacy on the corner of 8th and Revolución.

The letter of Mexican law says you need an Rx from a Mexican physician to have them in your possession, so keep an eye out for TJ’s men in blue.  Personally I watch and wait until no cops are visible then enter the pharmacy.  I make my purchase and also buy a coke.  I take the meds inside the pharmacy and leave visibly drinking the coke.  (Some guys who are caught by the cops stand firm, demand to see the judge, and refuse to pay a bribe.  Usually they are let go when the cops realize they aren’t going to make any money.  Others get scared and pay a bribe.  I speak fluent Spanish and have had good luck politely but firmly “standing up to” Tijuana cops.  YMMV.)

Somewhere around age 45 a man stops getting an erection from visual stimuli and starts requiring manual stimulation to achieve an erection.  (Seeing a hot chica strip just doesn’t do it for him any more.  He needs her to rub on him, etc. before he gets hard.)  Also, as a man ages often he can still get an erection but his erections aren’t as hard as they were when he was young.  (Obviously this makes penetration more difficult and he might have performance problems in some positions or when a girl is exceptionally tight.)

ED drugs are a great cure for these problems.  While they don’t make me a teenager again, they do enable me to perform as I did in my late twenties.  While these drugs are a great help to get an erection, they often do not help with “round two.”  If a man lacks the seminal fluids need for multiple rounds then he needs something other than ED drugs.  (When its time for round two a man may find that when he get his pistol out of its holster he’s out of bullets.)

I find the minimum dosages of all the ED drugs don’t do much for me, so I take the maximum dosage.  Obviously that won’t be the case for everyone; probably finding the right dosage is a matter of individual trial and error.

Those who need an ED drug to work in a hurry will likely find it works fastest when taken sublingual.  So crush it up and then let it dissolve under the tongue.  (It’s bitter and next time you’ll remember to plan ahead.)

Viagra gives me the hardest erection of all the ED drugs; however, it’s almost an unnatural erection.  Sometimes I get too hard and it makes me cum too quickly.  For me the effects of Viagra wear off too quickly and I sometimes get headaches, so it isn’t my ED drug of choice.  For me, Viagra takes about one hour to work and lasts 4-6 hours.  Standard doses are 50 and 100mg.

Cialis is perhaps the best ED drug for those who don’t experience problems using it because it last for 36 hours.  However, more people report problems using Cialis than with any other ED drug.  The biggest problem for me (like many others) is that it doesn’t always work.  I get many spontaneous erections (so many its sometimes embarrassing) only to sometimes lose them when it’s time to get down to business.  I’m worse off taking Calais than taking nothing.   (It’s no fun to “sprout wood” in the bar sitting with a chica only lose it the moment you get into the room.) Also, Calais gives me migraine strength headaches for that last about 48 hours.  Obviously having something work for 36 hours would be great, but for me it isn’t Calais.  (I’ve forgotten the standard dosages as I haven’t used Calais recently.)

I prefer Levitra.  I seldom have side effects with it and when I do its only a mild headache.  It gives me a natural erection that is there when I need it.  For me, it takes 20-30 minutes to work and lasts 6-10 hours.  I often get a “bonus” in the form of a great erection the next morning.  So I like to use it when doing a TLN (toda la noche or overnight session).  Standard dosages are 10 or 20 mg.  (I take 20 mg.)

I’ve heard other guys say similar things about Levitra.  Most guys I know that don’t use Calais prefer Levitra to Viagra.  Guys who can use Calais often prefer it because it has such a long lasting effect.  Obviously, those who have greatest difficulty achieving an erection do best with Viagra.

Hi Burt, you're a busy guy.  I've never tried Levitra.  Mainly because I ended up with a lifetime supply of Cialis and Viagra from various sources.

Just to be adding insignificant trivia, asparatime (nurtisweet) was also discovered by accident while looking at protiens for either liver or kidney medicines.  A researcher noted how sweet it was and voila.

Thanks, Burt. I'd like to add one more problem with Viagra. I've know a lot of guys (myself included) that suffer when mixed with alcohol. Hot flashes and dizzyness are not uncommon. If you are going to drink alcohol, you might want to avoid Viagra. My choice is also Levitra
