Currently the cops usually aren't present at the SENTRI drop off.

According to the local papers, TJ businessmen are blaiming the cops for the drop in tourism.  They complained. So the powers that be are making the cops "back off."  

These things go in cycles.

Last night, April 8, my friend and I were frisked and they went through our pockets.  Looking for Viagra and narcotics.  Gave everything back to us (money and credit cards) so that was okay.

On the US side, on the way out of the parking lots, right on the Freeway onramp, massive sobriety checkpoint.  They were pulling people over like crazy.  You might want to take the surface streets thru San Ysidro if you are tipsy, or better yet have a designated driver.
