Just wondering if there is any action around the Otay crossing area or in the Tecate area. The crossing at TJ is such a hassle these days with its long waits. Looking to speed up the return is all.
There isn’t any mongering action in Tecate. There are a few bars and MPs in Otay, but they are mostly locals bars. There is nothing like the Zona Norte in Otay. Plus Otay and Tecate are outside the zone of tolerance, not that it really matters as the guys I know who monger in Otay don’t have any problems with cops. (Nobody I know mongers in Tecate; however, many bar girls live there.)
The following phone numbers provide estimated crossing times for cars, pedestrians, and sentri pass holders. I've found the information moderately accurate.

When driving if the San Ysidro estimate is 30 minutes greater than the Otay estimate then I cross at Otay. As with many things in Tijuana, YMMV. (Sometimes I also cross at Otay just because it is a “calmer” crossing.)
