Are Mexican beers in TJ smaller and weaker?

I had this conversation with a monger. I had always thought that Mexican beers were the same size as US beers and stronger but they apparently are not. I looked at my Dos Equis bottle in TJ and it said 325 ml. If I calculated right this is only 11 ounces not 12 (354 ml) like a US beer. So how big are the ficha beers? Only 5.5 ounces?

The Dos Equis bottle also said 4.5% alcohol which would be 9 proof. I also thought that Mexican beer was stronger and had less regulations than beer in the US.  Apparently I was wrong.

I always thought Mexican beer was stronger.  The link has the alcohol content of US beers. I'm assuming the import beers are the alcohol content made for the US not for the country the beer came from. (so probably the Dos Equis and other imports in the US are stronger than the beers consumed in that country)  The good news?  I can now drink more beer. :)

You mislead people when you post incorrect information.  Get your facts straight.

Volume Content:

Comparing "US beers" to beer bought in TJ is like trying to compare apples and oranges.  They are different and should not be compared in general terms.

All US beers sold in bottles do not necessarily contain 12 fluid ounces and therefore it is incorrect to state that US bottled beers contain more beer than Mexican beer sold in Tijuana.   For example, the beer I drink in Mexico typically contain 355 ml (12 fluid ounces), but then I don't drink beer out of a can if I have a choice.

Alcohol Content:

Alcohol content is unique to each brand of beer.   It is again incorrect to state that beer is stronger or weaker depending on whether you buy it in Tijuana or this side of the border.

I compared the labels of two bottles of Noche Buena, which were bought on opposite sides of the border.

Mex bottle label:      CONT.NET.355ml.  5.9% Alc.vol.
                             HECHO EN MEXICO
USA bottle label:      CONT.NET.355ml.  5.9% Alc.vol.
                             HECHO EN MEXICO

To find an answer to why your Dos Equis bottles had different alcohol content, read the following quotation:

"Some variation was noted in alcohol content among different containers of the same type of beer. A dilference of 1.5 percent was found in one type of regular beer and 1.6 percent in another. Although the labels showed no code numbers, each container of beer is likely from a different manufacturing batch."

The six major beers sold in the zona bars are Dos Equis, Tecate, Corona, Sol, Pacifico and Negro Modelo.  I presently drink Dos Equis and the label CLEARLY read 324 ml and 4.5% alcohol.

So before you once again tell me my facts are wrong, go to the zona and order each of the above six beers and see what is on their label.  My original post was only a question, not a fact, asking others their opinions.  I can only account for the Dos Equis in the bottle that I was drinking in the zona.  Aspuser, your homework assignment is to buy all six of the above mentioned beers IN the zona and report back with their size and alcohol content if listed on the bottle. Those will be the real facts, you're always so concerned with.

How many people in the zona drink Noche Buena?  Please tell us what zona bars it is sold in, so that we can all sample this beer.  How about an original thread of your own instead of attacking everything I post, telling me my facts are wrong.  I'll stand by every post I make and if I am wrong, I will post so.

It's also getting old posting that I am using other aliases here on TER.  You accused me of it before and it turned out to be A Beautiful Mind playing around in an amusing post which he admitted in a later post.  I only post as juanstijuana (spelled exactly this way, all in small letters without any other numbers or characters)  You can stop your witchhunt now.  How many more attack posts by you will follow ones that I make?  Your agenda is making you look like a fool.

what exactly is "Erotic" about beer anyway???????

I don't drink anything else.
Noche Buena is a special beer that is only offered in Tijuana stores at Christmas time and has poinsettias on the label accordingly.  It is no longer imported into the US.

Negro Modelo is offered in Adelitas and you can buy it at Vons in the US. The information on the Negro Modelo bottles identical on both sides of the border.  There is no difference between bottles bought on either side.

Correcting misleading statements regarding a threads specific subject benefits the members here.  Everyone is entitled to express their own personal opinion, but posting false or misleading information benefits no one.

I have often thought that but after reading Apuser's post perhaps my guess was wrong also.

One thing I love about some of the Ranchero discos in TJ is getting the little pony beers for like a buck :)
I am not a bigg drinker and after pounding down 4 or 5 i still feel ok. But 2 or 3 regular size DosXX's or Coronas I get kinda buzzed.

I do not like getting blasted in TJ because the girls might try to get freebees out of me :)
