We have happily been using Evite.com to send out our invitations. We like it because people can respond, comment, ladies can add pics, etc. and check back to see any responses. That may now be changing ...

Earlier today, we went to add a few more guests to our list and found out that Evite.com has just recently placed a limit on the number of invitations you can now send out per event. That limit is 300. For us here in DC, our invitation list far exceeds that and is constantly growing. The claim for them doing this is so that they can ensure you are not spamming people. You can exceed the limit if you give them lots of information about your party and we simply are not willing to expose our guests to that any more than they already have been.

So ... what do you other organizers use for your invitations? E-mail is just so cumbersome and time consuming.

We like the centrally located places like Evite.com where people can respond as mentioned above.

We do not have access to PM's here, so if you do not wish to post here, please send us an e-mail at [email protected].

Any suggestions and/or help is greatly appreciated.

Why not open a 2nd account with Evite? The max limit is per account I believe... Then add the overflow section to the new account?

Alternatively, you can move the subset of the guests to emails..

Some online alternatives to evite. Not sure how good they work or what you will have to pay...

But here is the link..

I sent them a short note after midnight last night (their 'contact us') asking for an increase and it was granted in less than 12 hrs.
I provided them with '0' details other the 3 things they asked for in their request (which they already know).
*name - hobby name
*email you set up acct with
*how much you want to increase (kept it reasonable; I went 50 over what I had previous)
And what Curly said I already do; all 'yes' guests getting the sensitive party info in an email from the party address.

hope this helps,
j

Gueess I am just old school. I still only e-mail my notices and envites.  Time consuming yes, but most like the no public anoucements of upcoming M&G's also.

I looked at the E-vite but never used it.  But my M&G's are usually smaller than yours, usually 70-80 attending out of 300 + e-mail contacts

Thank you for your suggestions but you obviously are not well versed in how things work with regards to large parties such as ours.

The whole idea is to have ONE place for the entire group to converse, post comments, etc. Having multiple evite accounts would only serve to confuse people as to which site they are on and that way, they could not see what was posted, commented on, etc. on the other one. Kind of like splitting a party in 1/2 and nobody will know what the other half is doing. Not such a great thing.

We have considered Yahoo groups (too easy to hack) and other invitation sites as well (123greetings.com, etc.). We are going to have to test these out to make sure that it allows us to do what it is we need to do.

Lastly, we are also considering our own website, but that too comes with loads of inherent risks.

Once again, thank you for your suggestions.

Thanks jhonny.

We have requested additional invites from evite.com as well so we will have to wait until we get a response from them. Hopefully, they will allow us what we asked for and we can move forward. Having this new limit imposed unilaterally was in our opinion, poor planning by them. Maybe they should have imposed this new limit on all "new" events and not mess with the ones in progress? With less than 30 days until our event, it has made things that much more difficult for us.

We could cut down our list by eliminating all those people who have never responded or attended, but we prefer to keep people on the list until such time as they ask to be removed.

And yes, we already do the e-mailing of "sensitive" information from our e-mail, not through the evite.

Thanks again and good luck with your parties.

They could have also given us (party hosts) notice either by a courtesy email or when we logged in.
Even a week prior would have been better than just dropping it in our laps as they did.
(I would have given a month or more if it was my project)
Maybe it was not feasible to change segments of their servers/needed to be done in one shot.
Or maybe their system crashed, though doubtful as I was never unable to access my party info.

Poorly handled either way.
