Since a few members want an informal M&G and a chance to have a drink with a gorgeous lady and see what develops, I think a good place with alot of possibiliies would be the Hard Rock on April 10th from 6 p.m. until about 8:30 or later as things go...
This will be a good chance for new members to meet and put faces together with some of the posters. It also keeps things in line but lends itself to many possibilities after....
This is simply a time for a few people to meet, have a soda or maybe a something a little harder, meet, talk a little and see what happens. A chance to bumb into old friends and acquaintaces and make new ones. Nothing improper, illegal, or other problem activity will take place. I think it will be nice and fun to see others from here, compare how we all did in the March Madness brackets.... exchange a little personal info or numbers as allowed, and see what happens. Its great for all to actually see one another before the big event and I am sure some people may make dates for later or another time with someone they meet and thats great. Others will simply put faces to names, and match inperson personalities to online...
As to the privacy of those that come. Hard Rock will have a few thousand cars in the parking lot, and at least hundreds of people in the Casino and around the floor so as long as one behaves, there is no reason to think that they will be singled out or identified. If someone does misbehave, security will curtail any improper behavior immediately.
I know that similar although local boards do similar things with great success and fun for all.
I hope everyone stops by to have a cola or drink of their choice, say hello and ...... It should be a nice way to get over hump day and make the week go faster.
While you make some very valid points.....things don't always go as planned, or as they should, in the real world.
It wouldn't be too hard to find the group. A little eavesdropping on conversations in a crowded bar....or simply looking for someone who posts their face pics in ads and bingo......now you have the group. Find a handle that posts infrequently.....or just make one up (it's not like anyone is going to grab their smartphone and search the board to see if this new handle has ever posted) and introduce yourself to the group. Make reference to recent posts....or people on the board...and now you have credibility with people who already have their guard down in a public place. A couple drinks...and sometimes tongues get loose. Accomplices of the interloper(s) can now take pictures of everyone. Now we have faces. If they want more info....wouldn't be too hard to follow someone to their car (yes...it really is easy) or use the hotel's security cameras to get license plates. Now we have real identities. There's a few different scenarios of where things can go from there......but I'm not going to spell out everything on a public board.
Now don't mistake my intention. I like the idea. If I was close....I'd go for sure. But that is a personal choice and it's because I'm single and have nothing to lose. I said your points were valid.....and they are.....from one perspective. I'm only pointing out that saying it's happened before in other places without issue is like someone saying they've never been in a car accident or had their house robbed. Just because it *hasn't* happened.........doesn't mean that it *can't* happen.
