What is a safe dress code to follow for guys for these events. I've never attended and just wanted to get a better idea of what to expect.

Depends there all different?

Some are black tie and suits?  But, majority are business casual.

Nice pair of ironed jeans, and a Button down shirt or polo, dress shoes.

 Look "NICE"! Not sloppy!

I've been to socials at the beach and that speaks for itself

Okay thanks, theres a theme and they sent me the details about it so I have a better idea of what to wear. I guess I just jumped the gun on this post lol.

Only if there is a large couch for you to lay on and your head resting on meeeeeemeeeeeee's lap so  
she can read you the book! LOL

i woud say

no kakis and tennis shoes and white socks would do the trick. LOL

I do recommend wear something that is easier to remember since ladies talk to several gentleman that night.
