It is not against the law to have a M&G. I had discussed this at great length with my attorney before getting involved in hosting them. The M&G's aka "Mixers" in NYC are social events only. It is really no different then a large office party. While we lack the excitement of pole dancers and fire eaters, it is a good opportunity to mingle and party a little. Nothing more.
I attended my first M&G last week. It was in Boston. The attire seemed to be dressy informal. It was at a location that allowed people (hobbyists and providers) to have a drink and mingle much like at a cocktail party. People introduced each other with first names, TER names or both. It was obvious many people had been there before and knew each other but I met several people (hobbyists and providers) who, like me, were new to the M&G scene. People went out of their way to make me, a newcomer, feel welcomed. It was a fun experience for me. YMMV.
M&G are awonderful way for gentlemen to get an idea of a lady upclose ask her questions, learn alittle about her and helps him decide if he'd like to meet her sometime for a date. It takes away from only seeing pictures and a few narrartins on a websites and it helos everyone know who the wan't to know better. They are fun!
As far as I am aware, it's not against the law to throw a party, regardless of who your guest list might have on it, so long as it's just a party.
So no, the expectation you should have isn't that you're in a brothel, or that anything is going to happen that wouldn't happen that's perfectly legal to happen at a party or other social gathering. But you certainly get to meet fellow hobbyists and providers and be social with them.
Some parties even have live bands, stripper poles, fire eating or other things. Some are just cocktails and good people. It really depends on how it goes.
