There are pros and cons regardless of whether you have a meet n greet event on a weeknight, a weekend, a Saturday morning, or especially coinciding with national or religious holidays.

Because of the disparity in job issues, relationship issues, and so on, no matter when, someone will have scheduling conflicts.

So what do we do? There is simply no possible way to accomodate EVERYBODY. We can only do the best we can do to accomodate as many as possible.

For example, Las Vegas is a destination location, and weekend events have always been very successful there, with more than 250 people attending the last AVN event.

In my home town of Los Angeles on the other hand, weeknight events have proven to be far more heavily attended. Last nights LA event had a guest list of 220, whereas the largest weekend event I can recollect was the 2006 BBBJam, attended by about 75 people.

If someone has an idea for how we could hold a meet n greet event so that everyone could be accomodated, I would welcome the suggestion, and kick into overdrive to make it happen.

The majority of hobbyists that I have asked have said a weekend M&G would be much more difficult to attend. There are family issues, so this pertains primarily to hobbyists with wives or SO's.
Explaining a weekday absence for a few hours in the evening seems to be easier then explaining a weekend absence.
The other issue is the time of a weekend event. Some guys would be available afternoons only and some late evenings only.

Then we have the traveling providers who are normally not around in abundance for the weekends. Some local providers also have families to tend to on weekends.

In NY I could probably pull off a weekend M&G, but it would be much smaller and more regionally oriented.

Schedule the next M&G in a motor home, and travel the nation in a double loop.  Schedule it so that any location that gets a weekday on loop one gets a weekend day on loop two.

Perhaps you need to give me more parameters.  

is that my only opportunities would be when I'm travelling. I usually travel towards the end of the week, so Fridays or Saturdays would work best for me. I've been invited to a few, but could only make it to one.

Party starts at noon on Friday, Pool Party outdoor fun and games, music, BBQ and drinks.

Party continues all night Friday indoors and out, pool or hot tub, Karaoke, food and drinks.
 
Party in high gear Saturday afternoon through sunset with music and the first ever " Wet Toilet Paper-Bikini Contest ".
First, Second and Third place winning ladies from the competition get the guy of their choice for an hour of " ME " time.

Party continues through Saturday evening with food, Music for Dancing and of course, more drinks.

Times would accommodate all takers, come and go as you please, hand stamp at the door for all guys.

Doctors, undertakers and Med-Evac will be on hand.

You'd understand if you'd ever cleaned up from a M&G.

Besides, who doesn't like French Maid outfits?

In town M&G's in NYC work best late during the week.  Out of town...week-ends rule! Travel to Vegas is long...

No way in Hell you'd pull something like that off here in central Florida....for several reasons.

I concur. Weekday events are easier to attend and to explain away to SO.

Yes, even the smaller Nyc m&g would never take place on a weekend either.

Just doesn't make sense or perhaps it's a east coast thing.

The Party continues......... hmmm now that's a space issue.  A lot of people don't exactly look spiffy when they first wake up but for sure a lot of people need their space in the morning time.
