In the beginning, they followed the books pretty closely. They would only change a few small things to make the story flow smoothly for the TV screen. But every season, they started making bigger plot departures from the books. Now they're not even trying to follow George R.R. Martin's story. I didn't watch it last night, and in fact, I am so pissed about this that I think I'm done watching Game of Thrones.
Got sick of friend talking about it. Finally bought season one back in January....I am hooked....that show is soooo freakin good..

I want to buy the books, however as said, the show has gone a different way than the books....the bookwriters seem disappointed. Im glad they still allows them to write for the show. Ah yes, I was foaming at the mouth at the thought of ladystoneheart......here's hoping.
