I have only been to a couple of AMP that had table showers. They have not been erotic for me in any way - but I have read on some postings that guys rated the quality of the experience.
Am I missing something? Should anything besides a wash down be happening?

The quality varies with the provider and the establishment.  A good table wash should gently work your butt, anal region, genitals on your stomach.  The more they clean your butt, usually the better the erotic side of the massage later.  On the flip, a good shower can imitate a Japanese "Soapy Massage", i.e., they will lather your balls and dick and erotically "wash" them.  On rare occasions in the NJ/NYC area, I have had my first pop on the shower table and my second on the massage table.

One other note:  if the table shower does not include some form of general touching of your privates, then it will be a lousy massage and maybe even not a happy ending.

After all, you have to be passive and let her do you, so to speak, and maybe you're the kind of guy who has to be in charge.

I kind of like them because it is like a form of foreplay, and I like having a sexy gal doing stuff to me.

Maybe you're not finding gals who are coquettish enough.  They should be smiling at you and returning knowing looks, especially has they clean up the boys.

In any case, you can't go without the table shower.  Cleanliness is next to godhead with Korean gals, for good and obvious reasons.

Table showers have never been erotic for me either.  The girls seem to just want you to be clean.  I agree with the comment that the more time the girl spends cleaning your privates, the better the soft touch will be.  If they don't even touch you down there during the shower, you may as well request another girl because nothing fun is going to happen.  (I have never had the guts to do that though.)

I happen to like a warm, wet, soapy stroking.
