Similar experiences for me. In some of the renovated space AMPs, there were exposed sprinkler pipes (minimum requirement to meet code) that a hostess could use to help with her balancing act.

Unless she is a real flyweight or less, be careful! I have heard stories of serious back injuries resulting from uninformed stomping. In college, some of the cheerleaders or girl friends would walk on the athletes' backs as a form of massage; not all of them (the athletes) enjoyed it.

was the question put to me when I laid down on the table at my fav AMP recently. My regular provider was off visiting family in China, and so I was with a gal I had not seen before. Of course, I assumed that she was referring to MY feet, and being a big fan of foot massage, gave an unwavering "yes" to her inquiry.
However, she then proceeded to stand up on the table and grasp a hand rail that I had not paid much attention to in the past and proceeded to march back and forth upon my spine.
I had only had this procedure once before at a spa in mid-town Manhattan, at which I would have gladly revealed every military secret I know to her (had I know any, that is.)
In this case however, the experience was a bit more genteel, and I was able to bear it nobly, at least for about 3-4 minutes before I cried uncle.
So, the moral of the story is: If ever you hear the above question, inquire as to whose feet she is referring to.
