Downtown Baltimore is in general, unsafe and I would not recommend it, especially for a female traveling alone.  The city is pushing 300 murders again this year and that alone keeps me away most of the time.  There are plenty of hotel options in the BWI area and it is much more accessible.  My two cents for what it is worth.

I have been to DC/Tysons area but haven't had the pleasure of  staying in Baltimore. Anyone that has any advice or recommendations please email or PM me if it shouldn't be posted publicly.

I don’t go downtown in Baltimore for anything - just not worth it given the crime and urban decay.

If you want to visit - find a nice hotel at bwi or nearby Arundel Mills or Columbia. They are close to major highways and plenty of potential visitors work nearby.

Announce you trip in advance so we can plan to visit and I think you will be successful.
