Breweries and live music in Columbia?

Hey Maryland,

My girlfriend Ginger Taylor and I are coming to Columbia June 24-28, and while there, I'd love to try some local brews. Any recommendations? I don't mind grabbing a Lyft to Baltimore if there aren't any Columbia. I heard it's a bit of a sleepy town. I love a good Scotch Ale or Trippel. Hahaha, I'm a high gravity kinda gal. If I'm going to be consuming all those calories, might as well make it worth it, right?  

Also, any ideas for some live music during those dates? It would be cool to see a local Baltimore or DC band while we're there.

columbia isn't as sleepy as it used to be, lol... finding live music might be a bit of a challenge since your dates are sun-thurs. but here's a couple of places to check out...

ellicott brewing company is good too, but i doubt they're open so soon after the recent floods in ellicott city

clyde's at the lakefront is also good. in the summer, they have outdoor seating and events.
