Hello everyone,

I'll be visiting New Orleans for the first time this weekend!  I'm very excited.  Can anyone offer recommendations about what part of town is good to stay in?

There are plenty of places to stay in the heart if the city. Avoid the Westbank because you would have to cross the river and that can be a chore if you have never done it.

Have fun, enjoy, and stay safe. It's a great city.

I don't know about the weekend business here being most girls report it being more steady during the week, but good luck to you. The best hotels are by far downtown, but Metairie and Uptown are where most of the guys are willing to go. Most tend to avoid downtown because of traffic, parking, etc.

I chose Metairie since I have a vehicle with me!  Thanks for your input!
