It would be nice if we could all safety meet online discreetly! Unfortunately, three major security issues come to mind.
First, an individual can record their screen locally. I'm not talking about recording in Zoom (because thankfully, Zoom alerts all the users on a conference that the recording is happening), but it's possible to record the screen locally without others being the wiser. That's probably the biggest deal breaker for all but the most brazen of both patrons and providers.
Second, I work with clients on Zoom in my vanilla career. Sometimes if they use the same computer that they have another zoom account on, clicking on our meeting link will take them through the the wrong/other zoom account they have. So, for anyone that has more than one Zoom account and isn't very tech savvy (in this case, knowing how to properly sandbox accounts), it's an opening to accidentally expose personal info.
Third, Zoom has been busted for violating it's own privacy policies before. (As, honestly, most social media and digital interaction companies have.) And, policies change over time, often to the detriment of user privacy. I personally prefer to not trust such sensitive info to these kinds of companies.
Regardless of what platform you use, the internet is forever. It can be a great platform to initially connect with people, but I still believe most of the hobby is best left for the more discrete nature of in person interactions.
