West LA or Santa Monica
Hey! I am in the process of moving
My original place fell through so I am looking last minute... I am looking at two different places(both very nice) but they are in two totally different areas... So I am wondering in a Los Angeles guys mind, which location is better? I am trying to figure in what the traffic will be like coming from different areas, and when you are looking to meet a girl does her location change your mind at all? I am either looking in Sherman Oaks or in the Hollywood Hills. Sherman Oaks is right over the hill from Beverly Hills, Hollywood Hills is closer but can be killer to get to from anywhere when there is traffic! lol What do you think?

Hey Lindsey -
Speaking as a native Angeleno, I'd say if you had to choose between the Hollywood Hills and the Valley, I'd take the Valley. Not only can the Hills be tough to get to when there's traffic, but parking can be a nightmare as well.
Now if you could find a place IN Hollywood, or on the West Side that would be the best, because you're closer to the business centers for lunch dates and after work meetings. It pains me to say it because I am a Valley boy, but the truth is the truth.
So, in short, Valley before the Hills, and West Side before the Valley if you can swing it. If not, you'll still do great in the Valley. I just think in a close race, the Hollywood/West Side area beats the Valley by a nose.
Thank you! I am just looking to get out of the Hollywood area simply because I would like more space, more of a homey relaxed vibe, fresh air.... Hmm I guess I just answered my own question didn't I?! Lol Sounds like The Valley it is, maybe I should just move to Bali to a deserted beach somewhere(there of course needs to miraculously be a beautiful tiki hut for me to live in) and I can invest in a jet pack or teleporter! Hmm... Now to that idea! ![]()
If that's what you're looking for...the Valley it is...I liken the Valley to the 'burbs, and Hollywood/Westside to the city. If you want the hustle and the bustle, stay over the hill. If you want the "homey, relaxed vibe, fresh air" thing, until you can afford Bali, or someone invents a transporter, the Valley will make you happy.
Also, you DEFINITELY need to spend more time on the boards...it's a fun place to hang out, and we're at your service!
And, finally, as you can see from the responses, it's not a bad way to drum up business either...LOTS of us have taken notice of you, missy!! Your inbox and phone are probably blowing up as I write this...and I guarantee I will be among them in the very near future!!
I think it's more of what client you are trying to attact.
Personally, I live in the valley and hate traveling outside the valley due to traffic. That being said, I looked at your webpage. You are asking for $800/hour. That's probably something you're going to have a better chance of getting in Beverly Hills or LAX area. I'm not sure Sherman Oaks is all that affluent. The Hollywood Hills may be, but some of that will depend on how much of a pain in the ass it is to get to your place.
Good luck!
With reviews like yours you should have no problem attracting friends anywhere!
Sherman Oaks. And a large/high traffic building with plenty of street parking. So many of those in the area. And not so close to Van Nuys.
Santa Monica, Brentwood, Beverly Hills.
I used to live there (near Hazeltine & Magnolia). If you're closer to Coldwater Canyon Blvd, that will take you over the hill southbound to Beverly Hills. You also have the option of being close to the 101 or 170 freeways that take you toward Hollywood, or the 405 that goes toward the Westside. Hollywood Hills would just be one big logistical nightmare for us clients in several ways. Good luck!
(p.s. - HOT DAMN...even if you decide on Victorville or Landers, I would made the drive.)
Hollywood & Hollywood Hills are a huge pain in the ass. Insane traffic. No parking. Streets blocked off 5 or 6 times a year for various events. Way better in Sherman Oaks.
Thanks for the responses! I have not posted much previously, I think I might have to start coming on here more often to pick your guys brains! Time to take a look around.... On the hunt for the juicy posts!
Your last location was very convenient, especially for me (!), so anywhere nearby gets my vote!
Linsey- Are you still seeing people while in the transition of moving. I've been trying to get a hold of you via email. I would like to make an appointment to see you. Please send me an email through TER to hook up. THank you
I'm with those who suggest Santa Monica, West LA, Westwood, Century City, Beverly Hills
Yes, the apartments will cost more, but you will also be closer to the type of clientele you seek to meet.
Chiming in and saying the westside. Hollywood can be horrible with traffic, plus pedestrian traffic at night.
Westside can be quieter at night. There's also Encino, Tarzana and Woodland Hills. The Westfield Mall on Topanga has great shopping so one doesn't have to do it in BH if you're into the high class goods stuff.
Hi Lindsey.
Is your friend Kristin still around? She was next on my to do list?
