Years ago I was working for a major US corporation and they sent a junior executive from my department to their Brazilian subsidiary as a form of managerial exile for a bad decision he made.

Apparently, they didn't realize they were sending this 30-year old bachelor to paradise.  After three years they wanted him to come back to the US and he wouldn't return.  He managed to negotiate another two years in Brazil on the company's dime!  I think all the hot Brazilian women improved his decision-making abilities.
