kind of a contradiction - upscale and SFV.  I do not think there is a legitimate 4 star hotel in the valley - i think probably the nicest ones would be the universal city (i think there is a hilton and holiday inn).  There is a hotel on sepulveda and ventura, i think it is raddisson or three star marriott.  it does have a pool.  If you go out farther west to warner center there are a couple hotels there that are nice.  Again, nothing like the beverly regent, the montage, etc., but a good place to sleep.  i am racking my brain, but there really is nothing with nice grounds, fancy lobby and 4 star amenities in the valley .

I am looking for a recommendation to a upscale hotel in the SFV. Since I have never been there before I thought that maybe some of you wonderful gentlemen could help me out? Going to a Holiday party on Tuesday night there and do not need the long drive afterwards. Any suggestions?

Katelyn,

Yes the SFV is a vast wasteland for fine hotels and restaurants but unfortunately I live here.

If you going to be near TO try the Four Seasons in Westlake. If you are in the Woodland Hills area the Hilton or Marriott aren't bad. If you are going to be further East the Sheraton Universal might work.

Regards,

Rx

A "nice" but not necessarily "upscale" option is the Marriott Courtyard in Encino at the junction of the 101 and 405.  Otherwise, rxguy named all of the better options, what few there are, in the SFV.

SFV, Try Hilton Universal Studios. Ive been to their suites and they were nice. Marriott in Sherman Oaks on Ventura is ok. The staff is nice and their rooms are decent. its not as bad as a holiday inn or anything. If you are staying west like woodland hills there are nice (but not fab)chains you can check out and there ARE good restaurants over there. Hope this helps

There's a place on Pass in Burbank, a small boutique hotel, that I used to use a lot.  I think it has changed owners, but I bet it's still nice.

I also find the Sportsman's Lodge to be fine -- not "upscale" but fine, clean and nice enough for me not to be embarassed by it.  I've been in some shitholes and the ladies always pretend not to mind, but I do.

Thanks everyone. Your direction has been invaluable. I have booked a hotel. Many have contacted me and requested that I stay a little longer. So I booked Weds. and Thursday night as well as my party night of Tuesday. Thanks so much...a big southern smooch.
