This is a common scam

Let her know  because more than likely her saved contact list will get the same email.

I have received such emails from contacts and friends who were not aware they had been hacked.

I received an e-mail from a provider whom I have seen in the past.  However, I am not sure if she wrote this e-mail or if her e-mail had been somehow hacked.  The e-mail reminded me of one of those fake Nigerian e-mails soliciting money.  But in this case the person writing this e-mail and pretending to be the provider (or it could have been the provider herself, although I doubt it) said that she was stuck in Athens, and that she had been robbed and wanted $1000 to be wired to her account.  I texted the provider today and told her about it, but so far I haven't heard back from her.  This e-mail had all the tell tale signs of spam; bad grammar, spelling, and a ridiculous story.  We've all been reading about the economic problems in Greece, but I had no idea that the Greeks would resort to Nigerian tactics.

Ladies have you encountered this?  Gentlemen, have you received such e-mails?  Anyway, I didn't respond to the e-mail, and I sent it straight to my spam folder.

Yes this is a really common scam. Surprised you hadn't heard of it. Her email was hacked and they send out messages to her contacts as her. She has no clue, unless one or some of the recipients contacted her.

Hmmm. Sounded like she wanted an extra donation to go Greek. Hahahaha. I quit my day job for this! Hahah. Sorry. Just a little humor to add.

But yeah it has happened to me where my email address book got phished or something and it kept sending out spam to friends and kgirls. Was wierd getting an email from a kgirl asking if the spam was true or not.

exactly the same.  but i did not recognize the name, tho it sounded like a provider name.  but i just ignored it, thinking it was a scam.

Very simple to do by anyone with a little bit of programming knowledge.  The problem is that email has zero authentication in place applied to the info in the "sent from"
