Yeah, I agree. But there are still a lot of REAL girls on CL and a lot of them are young and basically just clueless about the business ... right at that moment - getting started - when they are freshest and least jaded. Just seems like an imbalance in the market. Somebody should be helping the real talent on CL graduate into a more professional place where people will trust booking them.

I guess I'm just saying CL has become a cesspool of bullshit. Not just in the Adult section either - the Real Estate section is a complete joke with the amount of spam getting channeled through.

But still, at the moment, there is this gap in the market between CL/Backpage shadiness and the more professional Cityvibe. And its these gorgeous young girls falling through the cracks.

And is posting an ad in CL really 10 bucks a day?!?!?!? That is just ludicrous.

I keep snooping CL in search of that "2 week newbie gem" -- I've met like 2 or 3 in my years and both are among the most amazing and memorable experiences I've had.  It's like winning a small lottery: it kind of hooks you (no pun intended).

As to why they are there, I think of it this way:
Imagine you're late for a plane at a strange/foreign airport and you stop at the first concession stand because it's right in front of you to buy your water (which you later find out was rebottled from the tap behind the counter) and a sandwich (that you later notice has green meat and brown cheese because it is 6 months past expiration date).

You're not an idiot, you're just unaware. You have no idea that 100 feet farther down there's a gourmet shop with a far better selection, truly new and safe items and generally a more pleasant environment.  

To my mind, the "good" girls who find a reason to post on CL do it not out of intentional choice but because of a lack of awareness. And yes, they could probably be more shrewd and do some research online and find their way here (or similar), but maybe they don't want to admit to themselves that they are "really" doing this on a Pro level?  Like if you sell your used furniture on craigslist, that doesn't make you a furniture dealer.

So I go back to CL every once in a while... hoping that somewhere amongst the hideous skanks, meth-whores, fake-o scammers and webcam site spammers, there's another dream girl who will answer her cell phone.

Yeah, the trick is talking to them and feeling them out on the phone. You can get a pretty good feel from a person by asking the right questions. My main thing is I can't believe how little they are charging. and the 30 minute quickie sessions. 5 years ago that was next to unheard of. But there's also the ones who specifically mention polite or gentlemanly men in their posts. Translation: Please don't be some troglodyte asshole.

If there's one thing about TER, the tone with the ladies has always been kept civil and respectful. This has always been a "Gentleman's Club". I remember this JimmyDean guy coming out on the wrong side of that discussion here about a year ago. But we don't disrespect the women, and that's a good thing. On the other side, the CL environment may have actually encouraged the worst instincts in a lot of guys by being able to hide behind a cloak of anonymity. I dunno, I'm thinking of starting a little experiment with certain girls on CL that I just know don't really belong there.

I found out about it through a married buddy of mine who would bring it up casually in mixed company. Back then the site was known as LAReviewer. And nobody new what it was. That's what made my buddy laugh, it was like his own inside joke. I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who actually went and checked it out.

What I've done is just engage the girls in conversation and screen them. Just put all the charm on, say I'm trying to find a girl for my birthday next week or something. Next thing you know, I'm telling her that SHE should be the one screening ME. And yeah, for the most part, they don't really know.

You have a very positive attitude Veronica, and I like that. I was speaking to another provider today, someone who is very part-time, and the thing came up was that for a lot of younger girls, they still haven't owned it that they are in this life, so the quickest and easiest way (CL) has a draw to them.

If anyone's noticed, in the Employment-Gigs section of CL, they have an Adult section. And guys just go on there like it was a selling floor, just saying what they want and how much they have. And girls are answering them. It's pretty crazy.

I'm just starting to have this feeling that slowly, CL will begin to be replaced, by more dynamic and more tightly policed versions of the same thing; category by category. And for this business/lifestyle, there're a lot of ways it could be improved.
