Strange Experience

I've been on TER for 25 years now and ran into something yesterday that I'd like to determine is just the new normal or strange.

Being in my senior years, I am not nearly as active as I once was, but every once in awhile I see a provider who has that certain something and I take the leap. Such is the case yesterday. When I texted I receive a terse auto-reply informing me that I had not followed the protocol associated with the app I'd seen her on, which was P411. Unfortunately I am not a member and there are no specific instructions on the general profile page. When I texted this, I received a long boilerplate message with all of the times of availability, the experiences associated with each, and donations (which varied depending on the day of the week), and the donation for various upgrades. Additionally, there were two options given for checking references. The one I chose was providing a link to an established site like TER where there is a record of reviews and white listings......plus a selfie. I'm not entirely comfortable with selfies as part of the reference process, but can understand I suppose given issues of security. I provided my handle on TER and one other site and passed the test on that count. Now, for the selfie. For it, I was given specific instructions. A simple selfie wouldn't do. I had to take a picture of my face with my middle finger of the other hand extended hoizontally across my eyebrows.....not the index finger or thumb. It had to be the middle finger. I responded that I'd rather not do that particular pose to which I received a blistering admonition that my refusal to follow her protocol resulted in my being banned, not to contact her again, and that she would now block my number.

Is any of this seem out of the ordinary to anyone else, or is it just me?.........especially the selfie part. If it's just me, what am I missing?
