Talking to my friend this week he underlined that I live in SoCal as we have redefined beer. Friday night, long week. I just opened a bottle of Knob Creek. I'm more of a scotch person, but the bourbon was had for a good price. My dad never drank scotch, I don't think we ever had any in the house. Only Coors Light. How far we've come... I often wonder what the TER community is doing while surfing the site. Even if you don't drink -- I can appreciate that. But like our taste in beer, I think our taste in ladies is on the up and up. Cheers
I'm more a barley & malt type guy and favor the IPAs but also like a good stout or barleywine at times.
A bit of an aversion to scotch but once went to a tasting which was interesting and I learned a good bit about them. Very complex so I get why some prefer it to other drinks.
That reminds me of a story on the radio... IPA's were created to ward off bad taste of stagnant fresh water during a long sea voyage to India. The bitterness was a flavor to spell bacteria.
I like saisons too. Found a gose two years ago by Almanac brewry in the Bay Area I keep coming back too. Enjoy the sparkling wine qualities and favor the French farmhouse more than Belgian-style.
There's a number of breweries in the LA area these days - Golden Road, Angel City, Ladyface, to name but a few - so many that it's hard to keep track of them all. Or hit them all. But I'm up for trying.
Kind of hard to imagine that at one point in my life I was debating whether Miller Genuine Draft was better than Budweiser. Now, I simply order water or a coke if I'm in a place where they're the only two things on tap.
This thread kind of makes me want to start a beer meetup group, where we get together regularly to sample different beers..
