I used to care & would drive only luxury vehicles.  My ATF was 760 BMW V12 baby, but status means nada I know who I am & driving an economical vehicle is smart.

Plus, clients judge you & think she drives a nicer car, than me I bet she makes more money than me too.  Next thing you know his $ is going to the provider driving the Honda Civic because he feels she needs it more.  lol
I agree with your first paragraph.

The MINI lady was trying to keep up but couldn't afford it.  The old Toyota Corolla lady probably does quite well.  She's nice and is always busy.  The Mercedes C class lady, I'm not sure.

I favor cars that are well designed for safety.  Usually, that means a medium sized car, nothing too small.

I wonder what ladies drive?

I had been a passenger in a lady's Mercedes C class and also a lady's MINI.  That's it.

I've seen a lady's old Toyota Corolla and heard of one driving a newer Honda Civic.

Most of the time, I don't know.

i have seen guys  and some women in very expensive   cars
No matter the country..... is the show off mentality ...who sucks

But when they get out the car They look like SHIT
Crappy clothing
bad hair day
Look like they do  no even shower
And some  look so sad  miserable a
Is   just another TOY to fill their empty soul..
then  buy more shit and do GARAGE Sale ..

Just an alternate reason why some gentleman may prefer a woman in a slightly less costly car.  It doesn't matter much to me (I see women who drive all manner of things).  That said when the 22 year old driving the BWM 760 tells me she only sees one client a week I have to work hard to keep my face straight.  Expensive cars generally mean you have to do a lot of work to get that, some men don't like that idea.

WONDER WHAT Children with 16 years oid are doing to driving Expensive  CARS
ahh
BORN BRAT
what great education

WONDER what wOMEN    who is not a provider  Are doing to drive expensive cars ?

ahhhh.
Probably have good career
 and see only ONE  guy

HER rich  husband HA HA

but with  the big  number on  guys on the hoobie in TER
She is  not  DOING her  work

Whole  shit i am so sarcastic these days
I APOLOGIZE
forgive me  people

I had a luxury car phase. UGH, I cringe now looking back because they were so much maintenance. I drive a new vehicle, but it's much more inconspicuous. What were your most superficial car purchases?

Luxury cars are such high maintenance (BIG PITA!). My SUV needs a new motor and my used Lexus just got totaled in a wreck. So I'm in a rental right now LOL...couldn't be happier. It's a simple Chevy Impala that has fantastic MPG and it gets me from Point A to Point B. My next car will be either a Honda or a Nissan. I'm DONE with luxury whips!! Unless, I hit the lotto or something. I prefer to save and invest my money. Plus, the older(wiser) I get, the less I like to flaunt my money.

My most superficial car purchase was a Range Rover. That's the one that needs a new motor smh. If I ever splurge again it will be for the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon X.

You totaled your car? Hope you're ok and have rental car coverage to elevate that unexpected expense.

Some married men call them mistresses because wifey is jealous of the amount of time AND money he "spends on that damn car!"
Most indulgent - BMW 850Cia, her name is Miss Oxford Green. And there was HiHoSilber, BMW 850Cia, totalled her.  Ooooo and Burgundy she was a BMW 850i that disappeared one night with my Rolex and a trunk full of brand new studio recording equipment !!!

And lot's of people will say there is no such thing as an BMW 850, you mean 750.  "NO, 850"

I had a boring German sedan for my long commute to a job in the tv industry. I'd gotten divorced a few years earlier and was finally back on my feet financially. So I decided to get a fun German sports car. The car was old enough that the market value was low enough for me to afford, but the model was one that was reliable. I put over 130k miles on the car in less than 5 years. Yes, I had to put some maintenance into it, but not as much as you might think. I really enjoyed that car. The time finally came to change jobs and I sold the car, but je ne regrette rien.

67 and 62 corvette, VW bus, 69 chevelle, 911, 70 Buick GS, and a couple of pure Italian sports cars that top all the high maintenance adjectives, as most things Italian and female do. One was red and the other blue. I now drive a 540 HP German SUV, with a great sound. It doesn't get the girls to turn, as its a guy macho car.
