This is a question for everyone, on what maybe I can or should do.
Over the last month or so I have received 4-5 different providers PMing me here to verify that I'm someone named "Eric T" (which this is not my real name) and that I requested an appointment. Someone out there is trying to pose as being by just using my handle name here only. They're not using my email address and they are not getting verifications through TER PM by me. I'm not sure how to stop this person or if there's anything I can do. Just a message to everyone and specifically to Providers, please double, triple check and make sure that you get a verified PM through the handle account. Double check to make sure the phone number and email address are correct when getting a reference from another Provider. I know I personally have a good reputation here, through positive reviews and always treating ladies with respect 100% of the time. I've never tried to cheat someone out of money or Rob them or physically hurt them. ThanksWooddr2
...provider and one hobbyist received an email from someone using my handle in his email address, but from a different email service provider. Both the hobbyist and the provider checked with me by sending a PM on TER, so they found out he was a phony. You are 100% correct - TER PMs should always be used to verify the person is who they say they are.
In Classic TER, provider's could check a hobbyists white lists by either his user name OR the e-mail address he has registered with TER. Using this method, providers could have checked the e-mails and found out they didn't come from you. Not all hobbyists have PM, so this was a way providers could verify that the e-mail was really from the hobbyist.
Unfortunately, "New and Not Improved TER" no longer allows a provider to verify a hobbyist's email address. They can only verify it's really that hobbyist by PM.
