One of the few things I remember from Econ 101 is that price elasticity does not apply the same to illegal activities.

Part of the reasoning is that the criminal punishment and risk still apply to the girl regardless of the economy.

Curious how the economy is affecting the more pricey ladies. I took a big career hit last year and find my "discretionary" budget leaning towards the K-girls (the 2-3 bill range offers some really great choices). Even the K-girls are complaining that business is slow; how does this affect the 5-6 range? Maybe it's the old saying that downturns don't affect the .5%. I miss my 5-roses days!!!!!! I'm COO at a small company and I spend lots of time strategizing over a product selling for $17.99 or $18.99....do the ladies review their rates as well?

More Freakonomics which dedicates an entire chapter to exactly this subject !!!  

According to the authors, as one might expect, it is the "lower" end of the spectrum that takes it on the chin the MOST during hard times eg $80-$300 providers, who find themselves lowering rates, turning more tricks, and often times just working to clear rent.  

The $400-$700 workers MAY have to adjust somewhat, but typically still get their rate, but perhaps for longer sessions.  As we see on the boards, typical $500 providers are accepting $350-$400, or traveling more to find business at regular rates.  

The yawn factor is obviously at the high end.  $1000 plus providers do not find it necessary to discount, nor do they report slowdowns in their business during economic downturns.

but i just dont get it, the only thing better than gettin with a great provider is doing it twice

honestly i think, here in la, the asian girls are just killin it:
look fantastic, excellent service, almost full menu, excellent price

i mean i've seen some impressive providers but i dont think its equal to seein a great k-girl 3-4 times

i mean everybody is different, and i'll still see lots of different types but i do find it harder and harder to justify certain rates when you get such great service from the lovely ladies of the east :)

A couple of very nice outfits have moved into Orange County and I agree with your assessment especially considering:

a.  Predictability of the Service
b.  Menus are Universal for the most part
c.  Attractive/Exotic females with a wide variety of      
   looks.
d.  Price $$$

A few of the clubs were doing specials last month, all inclusive FS w standard menu for less than $200 for the hour.  Hard to ignore and probably some lessons to be learned there.

you know what it kinda reminds me of - chinese food

chinese food is cheap but when you think about it relatively speaking its not that easy to prepare.

there is a lot of cutting and preparation and quite a bit of skill in seasoning and stir frying
it gets even more intense with some of the more involved stuff like dumplings etc.

and its pretty damn delicious, just go to any restaurant in monterey park and see

so why is it so cheap relative to say french, italian, or japanese food

i think it's because they tried to be so competitive with price that in the end it changed the general public perception that chinese food is somehow less "classy" and should be cheap

i see that happening with these k-girls

OF COURSE, the $1000 plus providers don't report that their business is suffering.  They don't report much of anything at all, and they certainly aren't going to report anything to you.

And the ones I know are also working models, actresses, etc. so they don't depend on the escort income to cover rent, it's just a treat when it comes along.

Those girls are also in a better position to save money to fall back on if they need to. I stopped advertising in LA back in August so I can't really comment from my rate range but from what I hear most girls are still as busy as they want to be.
Apparently lots of guys want to see girls specifically when they visit LA because of the quality of girls out here. Every girl I know is working one way or the other :)

They are also more low profile.

They have much more to lose. High profile Entertainment Careers, Real Modeling contracts etc.
Which to me spells out:
More stable.
More discreet.
More reliable less likely to flake.

nothing says annoying more than spending 2 hours in traffic going 10 miles per hour to get 9 miles away- than to have the girl cancel last minute or no show.
Also- 1000.00 girls (whether it be 1000.00 per 2 hour minimum or 3 hour minimum)
You won't find them in the backseat of an ICE truck or an LAPD patrol car, getting checked for papers.
Which means you suddenly become a person of interest when they find your number/text/info on their phones & computers.

Be smart with your hobby money guys. Be smart with your security of life.
Don't get burned by the cheaper 'Gucci' 'Chanel' counterfeit master imitators.
