Hi, I have a friend who moved from New York to LA in 2009. She moved back to New York because of what she told me LA was like. She is not an escort. She is a model, dancer, and actress. She moved to LA hoping to further her career in any of those areas she is talented in. But when I texted her a few months later to see how she was doing, and if her career was taking off... She texted back plenty of shocking things. So this is my question for you:
According to her, almost every audition she had, she was hit on. She is GORGEOUS. Huge natrual tits and she is from Eastern Europe with big natural blow job lips and cat eyes. Anyway, she is gorgeous. But in New York, she said she was never put in a position where she was asked to do sexual acts for a potential job. She said that in LA, they want the girls who audition to do these sexual acts, and its not just a blow job, it can be anything sexual, and that is not even a garantee they will get the job! So basicially, a women auditioning may do a sexual act, thinking that will get her the part in a film, or dancing gig, ect... and then the director/producer (or other man of powerful position) could just say "thanks but I'm not giving you the part".
I heard back in the 1980-90's if you did a sexual act, you pretty much had the part. Girls were not as nonchalant as today's hopeful stars. So, if they did the deed, they got the job. But according to my friend, girls are expected to hand over a resume and include a blow job in the interview. Im only going by what my friend told me. She could have been exaggerating, perhaps because of her own hot sexual appeal she ran into this problem. Obviously, certain types of actresses may not run into this problem. But any beautiful women with a hot body... I am wondering if this is actually the current situation.
Thanks for your opinions La.
Love you, Flora
Pretty women from all over the world come to LA to break into the entertainment industry. This makes it a buyer's market for talent, and there will always be people willing to take advantage of this situation, especially in the adult business.
If a girl doesn't give them what they want, she's rejected immediately. If she complies, she at least has half a chance of being considered for something. So it doesn't take long for the women to figure out how the game is played, and for the guys to exploit the situation. It's not pretty, but that's reality.
Always has, probably always will. For exactly the reasons the other guy said. Where there is desperation, there is someone taking advantage of the situation. It's very much a guys and dolls 50's "Mad Men" style philosophy in this town. It's kinda sick. And girls are so willing to just give it away in hopes of a career. Makes dating in LA a nightmare. There was an article written about this recently - the hollywood casting couch... attached.
...failed or wannabe actors?
I dont really believe in failure. But I do believe in "fed up". Most women who escort will feel happy with their choice of occupation, because there is an even exchange. Both sides have gotten what they want and agreed to. No one has been taken advantage of, used or abused, or had to dodge numerous mind fuck episodes. To have a dream, is to have a soul. To give away something valuable for nothing but rejection, will lose a piece of your soul and dream each time it happens. Cloudy eyes, that once sparkled with a dream... the soul has become lost? A smart women who cherishes who soul, her dream, will end this kind of exploitation. To exchange equally, will be a better choice for her then to give away her most precious asset for only rejection by an arrogant hog.
To make the dream happen... to escort as a means to remain in LA.... I am sure some will do it. I have no problem with that at all. In fact, by learning about fair exchange, a women may be less likely to give away her body and soul for only a possibility. I can say for myself, that I would not do favors without garanteed return. And in being an escort, we have the ability to fun our own dreams, without falling into the vulnerable puppet status of allowing exploitation. I have funded all my own projects and never asked for help. I wish women would stop being so competitive. If they would stop being cut-throat competitors with each other, they could actually make a difference in women's rights. By bonding together in an effort to end exploitation, the men of higher powers would have no choice, but to give them fair auditions.
My friend left LA because she would not fall into that game. once upon a time, in another time period, her Diva-ness and profound beauty would have made her a star, now she may never amount to fame, only because she wont wrap her lips around a producers sliminess.
Flora, I was touched by the story of your friend and apologize for all men who are assholes. To exploit a women in need is a a cowardly despicable thing to do. In addition to being beautiful you seem to have a very level headed understanding of the world and it looks like that is serving you we..
...is beyond reprehensibility. It is vile. It is disgusting and should be a crime, if it is not already. RT
Just my 2 pence... but for what she wanted, she had to pay for with what she had.. i.e. her body..
Thats just what every guy on here has to do, pay with what he has.. What is so disgusting about it?
Its the game ..... from another direction.
I disagree. We earn money and pay women to fuck us. For the most part, they are entering into the relationship with their eyes open. We both agree to do it. If looking for a job, YOU were asked to suck the boss's cock or let him fuck you in the ass, I assume you would not dig it -- even if you were gay -- because then he is simply exploiting the situation. You come looking for a job, not sex. Difference is huge.
Me too. I just sent my new business card to the printer:
Major Casting Director
Talented Spinners Apply Within.
PS. Can we use your couch?
That sounds like a b.s. story to me. While I'm not in casting, I am an executive in the film industry with one of the major studios, and the casting couch has been long gone for decades. For starters, most legitimate casting offices have multiple people in the room now to avoid any accusation of impropriety later. Like any other business, we want to avoid sexual harassment claims. If the part requires nudity, the actress might be required to show her body, just to make sure that there aren't tattoos, C-section scars, or other things that might be problematic. The other reason that the casting couch has gone away is that no director in their right mind wants to have a leading lady holding "all the cards" when she gets on-set. In other words, if she provides favoritism to get the part, then she might expect favoritism when it comes time to do the close-ups, getting more lines of dialogue, etc. A multimillion dollar project is just not worth surrendering that kind of power, if you are the director.
Yes, there are exceptions to the rule. In your friend's case, she's probably dealing with people who are pretending to be in the business, but really aren't. Pretty much every guy in Hollywood at a nightclub pretends to be a movie producer when he's trying to get laid. (Real movie producers are usually too busy to go to nightclubs.)
Now, if your friend DOES want to provide sexual favors, her best best is to sleep with the screenwriter in pre-production to make sure that she gets the best dialogue; sleep with the cinematographer during production to make sure that she gets the best lighting and camera angles; and then sleep with the editor during post-production to make sure that she has the most flattering Takes and gets the most screen time. (Sorry, an old joke.)
Flora, I totally agree with Mr. LeChiffre here. In this day and age, there is no casting couch in Hollywood. If your friend came across such, it was probably dealing with people who were pretending to be in the business, but weren't.
Jeez, we even need to take stupid sexual harassment class at the beginning of each project.
I am sure she was dealing with posers.
but, I digress.....
Im going to assume she did try making many contacts in the nightclubs when she was dancing. They were most likely hitting on her. She may have ran across both fake and genuine men. But perhaps because of the circumstances she had bad luck. I dont know all the details, as I do respect her privacy and only listen to what she feels to tell me, rather then asking for more...
I know she does go to auditions also, as she follows websites and papers that tell of auditions. Perhaps speaking English as a 2nd language limited her chances, and perhaps being fed up with the combination of the two frustrations... she gave up the LA dream.
LeChiffre's post has the ring of truth.
When I lived in W. LA, I saw dozens beautiful women in coffee shops having meetings with their agents and yelling at them. Their lines always included "YOU PROMISED!"
I always wondered why they were meeting in a coffee shop or where-ever. Shouldn't you be having this convo at his big shot office? I always wanted to butt in and ask her if she had been to his office.
Don't agents and other rich, talented, and successful movie guys have offices? Maybe they just have business cards.....
I really appreciate having the opinion of a man who is in that position of power. Let me clarify, that this friend is not someone I would ask personal details from. We lightly keep in touch and fill each other in on the absolute basics of our lives. Nothing very personal or deep. This information she gave me, was what she mentioned to me, without further information regarding details on what happened. And I respect privacy, so I did not ask further questions or push her to tell more. What I could assume, is that because English is not her first language, perhaps she limited herself to the types of auditions that she felt she was suitable for. She mostly dances. Her modelling is sport and swimsuit. And her acting may be limited because of possible typecasting as more a stripper type. I dont think it would be fair, after hearing what you have to say, to use my friend's experience as a blanket statement for all hopefuls in LA. I have to be honest, I had considered moving out there and pursuing some of my own talents, but her statement turned me off moving there, because I do not compromise myself in the ways she described. I funded all my own projects myself, so that I would never be exploited. Perhaps, now I will reconsider the idea. As long as my friend's experience never happens to me, I would be willing to give LA a try. Thankyou so much for your information.

Isn't this just another way that beautiful women try to get over on society. I mean why do so many young attractive women believe that they should be hollywood starlets? Just because you are hot does not mean you should be a star. If you want to be rich and famous because you are beautiful then you deserve what you get. I don't want anyone to take this personally I am speaking in general.

Does this name ring a bell? She's the one who spent a couple hours with famous NY Gov. Sptzer, that cost him a career. When reporters asked her how and why she got into this hobby, she said, "When I go on any date, the guys all expect to end up in bed. Heck, it might as well be laid and paid."
