Probably a taboo subject, but I got an email from a provider I used to see. Se said she was retired but had a couple of girls she was introducing to the business and I should contact her to make appts etc. She has set up her web site to showcase her new talent. I was just so strange the way her email was worded that pimp came to mind.

What are you doing about human trafficking ? It is the modern day equivalent of slavery as stated and framed for discussion in  the following statement by Federal LE:

"It’s sad but true: here in this country, people are being bought, sold, and smuggled like modern-day slaves. They are trapped in lives of misery—often beaten, starved, and forced to work as prostitutes or to take grueling jobs as migrant, domestic, restaurant, or factory workers with little or no pay. We’re working hard to stop human trafficking—not only because of the personal and psychological toll it takes on society, but also because it facilitates the illegal movement of immigrants across borders and provides a ready source of income for organized crime groups and even terrorists."

In our eagerness to jump on the bandwagon let us not confuse HT with women who independently and on their own free will decide to become sex workers and employ agencies ,managers and bookers to market themselves whethet domestically or internationally.

This is a truly valid point. The one question left when thinking along these lines is:' how do you as a guy know? You ask the girl? yeah right (notorios how some agencies send their people to check if girls talks bad about agency. DO you check if she is happy? Ok how so? I mean really, how can a guy no? I think we know the difference between trafficking and escorting through agency and so yes I agree with you. Perhaps we could look more at how to identify trafficking and share ideas? Just a thought.

BTW, Well said Patricia

should we patronize girls who go thru an agency?  or just assume they are doing this against their will?

Yeas I ask a girl. Believe it or not some of us are interested in more than "wam , bam , thank you mam". If you are referring to the K-dolls , yes I am a man , and I am interested in getting to know who I am with , we do talk, and they do share about themselves , some befriends and get out with clients. The important think to know they are free to come and go, they are in this country to make , the successful ones do make a lot of money.

I am more likely to meet a K-doll ( and I have met some)  in BH or on Melrose than I would a native provider. I know when they are happy or not , because I ask and they tell , some are tired , some burn out , some feel inspired , some  feel happy ,most are glad they are here, yes they tell me and I am sure toners . They also send texts with their pictures , dive well, goad night , miss you etc messages , we go to Bay Area , to San Diego and LV without anyone objecting .

Prostitution is not and easy profession but  but based  on my experience and that of others the dolls are happy to be here and pleased to make enough money to pay off debts, strata new life or save.

In my view none of the two are of any use.

My suggestion would be a healthy discussion on how trafficking can be identified, rather than focusing on convincing each other we know it all.

I did not mean guys don't care, but that asking at times is not really going to do the job as some girls dont feel they can say.

PM:
Rather than throwing words and terms in the air without understanding what they actually mean or refer to i suggest you understand the UN definition. Yes , trafficking is a a major problem of the contemporary time but the OP is about HT.

The United Nations definition of human trafficking is “The recruitment, transportation, transfer, harbouring or receipt of persons, by means of the threat or use of force or other forms of coercion, of abduction, of fraud, of deception, of the abuse of power or of a position of vulnerability or of the giving or receiving of payments or benefits to achieve the consent of a person having control over another person, for the purpose of exploitation".

The Asia Pacific region is seen as the most vulnerable region for trafficking because of its huge population pyramid, growing urbanization, and extensive poverty. Trafficking is a violation of human rights. Victims of trafficking suffer from physical and mental abuse and social stigmatization. They become isolated, losing ties with their former lives and families.

At the societal level, trafficking undermines development efforts and raises social and health costs. The ongoing abuses of human rights and the growing social and economic inequality within and between countries has led to an environment in which many women have few choices and resources, and are thus vulnerable to being lured, mislead or forced into being trafficked.

Women who are most vulnerable to being trafficked are those aged 10-35 and who are impoverished, uneducated or from indigenous, ethnic minority, rural or refugee groups. Such women often lack access to education and meaningful employment opportunities. Harmful cultural and customary practices also perpetuate discriminatory and violent practices that further diminish women's opportunities and lead to further marginalization and commodification.

Promoting gender equality through the elimination of gender discrimination and gender-based violence will enhance the dignity and human rights of women and girls and prevent their being trafficked. UNESCAP supports regional cooperation to combat trafficking, reduce undocumented migration and forced labour; support capacity building and economic empowerment of women; and, promote adoption and implementation of international legal instruments.

After the Asian financial crisis in the late 90s, the South Korean government implemented an economic stimulus program to boost domestic economy. The program allowed many South Koreans to borrow and spend regardless of their credit scores. This allows anyone to sign up for a credit card and spend without limits.

The resulting South Korean debt collection laws and the aforementioned stimulus plan both contribute to South Korean women being forced into sex trade around the world.

Unlike most other countries, credit card users in South Korea have no option to pay off their debt over months or even years. Instead, they must pay off the full balance in 30 days, which makes it easy for borrowers “paying 25% plus annual interest rates to fall behind.”

It is not uncommon for lenders to take possession or even repossess borrowers homes to pay their debts.

When a poor woman like Xxxxxx , becomes delinquent, she often turns to private lenders for quick cash. Many of those private lenders are connected to organized crime involved in human trafficking and prostitution, making a naïve college woman like You Mi Kim vulnerable to sex slavery.

Though the Korean debt collection law prohibits collection of debt using threats or violence, it is rarely enforced. In 2009, a young college woman was forced into prostitution after she failed to pay back $2,500 to a loan shark. When she couldn’t afford to pay her college tuition, she turned to the loan shark for the money to continue with her education.

When her father later found out, he attempted to cancel the loan. Then, when he failed, he killed himself and his daughter.

Even when the law is enforced, legislative loopholes still make young women vulnerable. In March 2011, police arrested a woman who trafficked over 70 South Korean females for prostitution in Tokyo, Japan. Traffickers recruit the women, all heavily indebted, through loan sharks.

In order to pay off the debts, traffickers offer victims jobs at massage parlors in Japan. Upon arrival in Tokyo, however, the victims were locked up and forced into prostitution under debt-bondage while the trafficker profited approximately $304,000 a month.

truck stops, M. Parlors, strip clubs, and street walking, according to couple reports on ABC Nightline and MSNBC shown last year. They are typically in the cheap and high-volume kind of business.

* Last week Bill O'Reilly happened to interview Judge Jeannine Pirro on this topic. She urged strongly to distinguish between the case of consenting adults vs. slavery. To my surprise, she said the consenting adult case should not be criminalized, "absolutely not" (her words).

* This is good healthy discussion, especially if we can be educated to spot the victims. Sometimes we heard of guys' complaint about an extremely unhappy or un-cooperative provider. Wonder if that may be a red flag?

* On the other hand, we heard of scam by independent like this guy's report below.

Apparently their slave holders are keeping them from their IPADS or Laptops. Either that or they would rather not.

Unfortunately a majority of the girls do not feel confident in their English ability to participate here. Their lack of confidence is by no means an indication of their intellectual ability. A majority are college educated (many forget that) and could probably talk me under the table.

Other than that many just chose too watch from the sidelines and enjoy the show.

Was it necessary for you to single out the Koreans regarding this issue? I am from the Asia region but the extent of Human trafficking is more serious in areas such as Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines and other numerous east asian countries where economic factors are much worse.

As one of the OP was about Human Trafficking in general, why don't you include also in your article about the "white slavery" that exists in the former blocs of the Soviet Union? Or for that matter in your own backyard of Alabama where Child trafficking is prevalent in the South. As I pointed out to another provider, Human trafficking is not just an international problem, it is a US problem as well.

I always find it hard to believe that so many people don't believe it happens in the good ol US of A but it does.Cutting and pasting an article is fine but it seems to me you want to single out this group instead of focusing on the larger picture. Don't mistake my intent here. I am glad you brought this issue up because it does happen to some of the girls. Here in LA, I have yet to hear from a girl that she is unhappy.

I understand that you may be new here to the LA board and the dynamics are different here so enjoy and hope you can contribute.

they are here to make money not gossip and participate in meaningless talk with people they don't even know or care about on a personal level outside of work.

they primarily just read the reviews and ratings to check on business.  rarely the posts unless its one of the bookers or owners.

well voluntary in terms of the girl voluntarily decided to work as a prostitute in LA but i guess you can argue the girl is forced by the circumstances in her life..such as being debt, need money to pay for school,etc..etc..

but i have never met any kgirl who got locked up and forced against their will in LA to be a prostitute.

from what i understand the gangsters were pushed out by the cops and then enterprising kgirls started taking over one by one until LA is a free market business system.

by the way, a warning for some of you.  when you talk to a kgirl don't blab any info on other kgirls and owners and such.  some of the kgirls who disappear are actually busted by LE and forced into working for them and try to get back into the agencies as moles to feed information back to LE.  so just be careful.  even the booker and owner might not know the girl is a mole.  so the real human traffickers who force the girls are the cops.

On the other hand, could this be April fool joke?
If it is serious, should we beware those who speak reasonably good English? Or any other telltale signs?
When we see a Kgirl, we'd never connect blowing to a whistle. (lol)

the circumstances that led you to take up the profession . Do you have evidence to support your claim that the K-dolls in LA were forced by loan sharks to come to LA. Yes some are here because they and their families have heavy debts , others to fund college tuition fees , others to start a business while others to accumulate wealth and attain financial independence. People men and/ or women who get themselves in a mess may do desperate things to get out of their predicament.

While I have no doubt this reports true I think you could have changed the names and substituted the US , Ukraine , UK , Netherlands , Italy or most countries in the Western hemisphere and the report would have been just as accurate.

Loan sharks exploit their victims in New York , New Delhi ,  London , Paris or Johannesburg,as much if not more than Seoul , Bangkok or Shanghai in compassionate kingdom of Saudi Arabia debtors are jailed until they are forgiven or payback their debt.

However,  to assume or to be more accurate to promote the idea that this is a Korean problem or that the  K-dolls in LA are victims of human trafficking  is both misleading and inaccurate .  K-dolls are not shy to share their story. They are here to make money , the successful one do very well and can generate a small fortune during their short here .

Don't let your envy , resentment , jealousy and even hate for the success of the
K-dolls in Los Angeles minimize the the serious of the evil known as human trafficking.
