I had the good fortune of becoming close friends and occasional drinking buddies with Greywolf after meeting him at a TER meet-and-greet back in 2001. I never announced his passing because the TER boards had really changed over the years and I didn't think anyone would remember who he was, but I'm glad I happened to stop by when you posted this question.
Greywolf was a great guy- a gentleman, a true lover of women, and a good guy to have around if you wanted to kill a few pitchers of beer and have some stimulating conversation. He was also fairly typical of the early generation of pre-internet hobbyists that happened to find TER when it was first launched. They brought a very different set of experiences and street sense that you don't see so much today and I think it added a lot to the discussion. Yes, he was "old school", but in the very best sense of the word.
The cynical amongst us say TER is just a "fuck board" and it's only about the money and getting laid. Well, I think TER is whatever you make it- good or bad, and Greywolf made it good. Not only did I become friends with a fellow traveler, he was also good friends with some of the ladies whose company he enjoyed. When his health was failing, one of them flew 3,000 miles to put a smile on his face one more time. If she happens to read this, I hope she knows how much she meant to him.
I never post here, and read the posts on this forum only rarely since they seem so callous and less than nice much of the time. But I too had some contact with him many years ago, and thought that he was a sensitive and thoughtful guy, and he was very helpful to me in sorting out the confusingly holistic way I approached the few wonderful women I got to know when I was first introduced to TER. I'm sorry to hear he passed away. I think he was one of the good guys.
the perfect gentleman. He added a lot to this board without ever being rude or obnoxious. As you say he was a true lover of women and in return the women loved him.
Unfortunately, not too many Greywolfs are left from those old TER days. G2, you were/are one of them. Never mean spirited but added to the many stimulating discussions, with words of wisdom rather than the "frays of today".
Yeah the old school crowd is dwindling down from old age to death. Thats why Im still hanging on because that day will come when we cant hobby anymore or are dead. But I wouldnt have changed a thing , I got laid a lot and have a million great stories. Heres to all the old school hobbyists. May we go on forever.
Alot of old cats have dispersed, I recall hearing a few passings, and a few I imagine have gone thru life changes in the present economic climate changes. Either way cheers gentlemen.
