may be more to it than what you getting.  It appears you have never been an athlete.  When you have foot fungus you have to be careful when putting on you jock strap or underwear that the garment does not touch the foot fungus.  Otherwise, you pull it up and transfer the fungus to your crotch and now you have jock itch in a day to do.  Its the same type of fungus.  If you can transfer it from one area of your own body to another,  what makes you think it could not be transferred to another person?  

During my athletic time with my hygiene. I rarely put myself in a situation where I could get athlete's foot but when I did all it took was was alittle powder here and there and soon it was it done. Now if you couldn't afford to change your socks daily, or if you used the same towels over and over again then that's on you. And I don't know what kinda shower you're showering in, I'd say upgrade your Gym membership or just change gyms. It can be preventable or maintain...
Anyways, I doubt that the ladies I see have this "Fungus"..My post below as it leads to how I handle this.
