have been popping up as friend suggestions. WTF?? My brooke song email is in no way connected to my personal email or any personal information.

Has anyone else have this happened to you? Facebook is getting a little too intrusive for my taste...

...I was accepting a friend request from a guy I've known for years, and saw a friend suggestion for a girl who's a provider I saw few months ago once and only once. Said provider had 10 friends, none of whom were mutual. I only noticed the suggestion because it's a photo that she uses in her ad. Saw the photo and thought, 'hey, that looks familiar...oh shit!'. WTF??? indeed.

And I am damn glad for it.

I did the Myspace,  but never really kept it up to date.

Then joined twitter.

By the time Facebook came around,  I was overit and never joined.

I still get spams from them say so&so has friended me, or other crap I just ignore.

"A"

It's based on your mobile number. Facebook asks for your mobile to verify your account. Later it will use this to find people you may know.

When you sign up and agree to FB's terms of use, FB then technically owns everything you ever put on it. Even if you cancel your account all your information is saved and archived.  Their technology allows programs to crawl through not only your address book but through every cookie on your computer. There is a reason that people who work at the State Department are not allowed to have a Facebook page. FB never forgets.

Agreed FB is intrusive and you need to be careful if you're trying to be discreet and access FB on the same device.  I personally never access my personal FB page from my computer that I use to hobby. FWIW, state department employees can have FB pages (below is link dept of state's official  FB page), but all classified materials/communication need to occur on a computer that is secure. Secure means different things depending on your security clearance.

Mountup is correct. If you work for the CIA at State you are not allowed to have a personal facebook page.

I started a Facebook account several years ago.  I dropped it when I realized how much personal information was going into it.  I value my privacy, and I see no benefit to me in putting so much information about me on line in one place.

first of all, what more can be said about Brooke Song, she is fabulous!
facebook is a different story - I deleted my account when I found out facebook claims to own all your content, including your pictures.
