I explained my timing was a little tight, involved changing a long distance flight and asked "was she really sure she could meet"?. I said very clearly if she felt she couldn´t or there was a chance it might not work out, I´d more than understand and it´s just better to know and we could try reschedule. Her voice sounded intelligent, calm, not at all flakey and I was really looking forward to meeting. Had to start drive to LA extra early am to make all happen. Got to Santa Monica right on agreed time, sent agreed text message, then nothing. Texted, called repeatedly, left messages for almost 2 hours (the max window I had). If there was some snag on her side (and I am a reasonable person-shit happens) fine. At least a simple text back saying "really sorry have to cancel" etc. Just silence. I then had to bail - caught flight east. That night I sms´d once more saying how frustrating it all was, how I had to change so much to make it happen, could she at least try to explain so maybe next time we could work it out. Nothing.
So I say to you all - even in our little realm, there has to be a minimum amount of simple respect and courtesy shown and it simply wasn´t. You are warned. It was a major, needless, costly waste of time.
I would have liked that as well - and gave her 2 hrs to tell it, and then a follow-up from the east coast 6 hrs later. A text would have taken what 30 seconds..? No excuse apart from alien abduction. I just don´t get it-why there can´t be some minimal standard of just being decent, or just say no ahead of time. Maybe some men have things to answer for, but not me. It did indeed just suck, big time. You have been warned. Still mighty fragged about it (in case you did not pick up the subtle clues). Done now. RB
Of course, that is sort of a 'presumed guilty' view, but say what you will, the defendant who does not take the stand in his own defense leaves a gaping question for the jury, and Gracie has a wonderful forum to reply and say, "i got hit by a car," or "my dog at the cell phone," or whatever.... From the sound of it you got treated pretty rudely after altering your schedule greatly, but still you mention a "next time" to her. This attitude gives her and others permission to flake with the knowledge that chances are, your dick will win out over common sense and you`ll be back.
No next time - was just trying to offer one last chance to hear why, so there would not be any reason to think maybe I got it wrong. There will be no next time: no excuse for not even the slightest explanation. She had all the info/numbers needed - it would have taken 30 seconds. I´m just warning you all...
