So, I have been hobbying for many, many years.  On occasion, i have seen three girls in one week. ONCE, I even saw three girls in one day, but I was younger and richer!  

So, since the coronavirus really got serious, I have abstained completely -- been 6-7 weeks, now, maybe more, as time seems to have slowed and we are stuck in GROUNDHOG DAY all over again, to mangle Yogi Berra's famous remark about "deja vu all over again."

So, how long can one go...?  I am getting close to my limit.  I think.  But I am not sure.  Can I go 3 months?  4?  6!?!?!?  What if the virus flairs up again in the winter, as indicated by Dr. Fauci?  Can I go 10 or 18 months?!?!  

How long do you think you can hold out?

And, does it change if you have a Significant Other with whom you can be intimate during the quarantine?  What about those who do not have SOs?  Can you abstain for a month, a quarter, a year?

I do not have an SO, but I am human & need TLC too!  I can go a long-time without having relations with another person. Why deprive yourself of happiness? I feel that if your safe & not putting yourself at risk the choice is up to you.  As a mature adult, I know I have lowered my risks by isolating myself & my family in our home since 3/13. Wash your hands.

Like you, Cap, I have been at this a long time.  My membership start date on TER says "2001." (Where did the time go?!) And I started well before that.

There have been times when I have taken a break in the past for various reasons, but never for due to something that has felt so existential.  So, I'm prepared to fully wait it out to, well, I don't know exactly when. Is it because I am older and wiser?  Because my libido has dulled with age?  Not sure, but there is something about this that says, "Don't screw around with it"...........pun and every other interpretation intended.

Maybe I'll resume when the numbers dip so low that the risk is negligible; or when I've been tested and find out that I have antibodies from a bout I attributed to a common cold (assuming having antibodies for this strain means immunity); or when they eventually come out with a vaccine.  

Expanding the conversation, I'd like to understand the thoughts of others with opinions different from mine.  I see reviews continuing to be posted from hobbiests and new ads by providers.  For those continuing, I am curious as to your thoughts and reasons. "A guys got to go somehow/someway. What a way to go?" "I need the money and am willing to take the chance?" "This is all overblown?"

I picked one gal.  She is just barely to the mature side of life, almost at the end of her time in this business.   I an 67 years old, so just about anyone I could see is younger than me.  We have an exclusive arrangement.  How can I trust her?  Nothing is certain, but I know she is totaly freaked out about this pandemic, she hardly ever leaves her house.  I've known her well for 7 years and to the best of my knowledge she has not decieved me in any way.  I'd say I can be about 98% certain she abides by our agreement.   We see each other twice a week.  Yes, is is like being married, but for the short term it works for me.  The sex is absolutely amazing!  

I can't say this would work for everyone, it's just my own solution to a difficult situation.

I feel your pain CR. It’s been about the same time for me since I last was active. My situation may be a bit different in that I have a medically compromised SO at home (no sexual intimacy), yet I care for her very much. So for me the decision is simple. I can’t take the risk of possibility infecting her. Everyone has to find their own way in this one, but maybe you can just put the amount of time you’re talking about into the overall time frame of things. In that way, it may make it more tolerable. ....which is why I posted.  I am intrigued by the wide range of situations, beliefs, opinions.  Like you, I see the continued reviews — especially among my fellow K-Girl lovers — and wonder what they are thinking.  Some are cautious but accept the risk, having no SO or familial concerns.  Others, I suspect, are either dumb/misguided/foolish/don’t know how to read statistics.

I mean, this stuff is bad juju — in NYC, among those who had to be intubated and ventilated, the MORTALITY RATE WAS 80% — that is terrible!

But that said, everybody has their own breaking point — that is, the point where they simply cannot take the lack of intimacy/sex/whatever-you-wanna-call-in anymore....

Everybody must be careful, because everybody — I hope — has somebody they love and who loves them.  For those we love and for those who love us, caution must be the norm, now....

But, man oh man, what I would not give to....well, enough of that — those kinds of thoughts lead only to temptation!  It’s COLD SHOWER TIME.  AGAIN!

When the covid pandemic began I feared it would put an end to my hobby. Being in the older demographic I realized that this disease could be fatal to me. I waited as the quarantine progressed, thinking that it was temporary. I kept in touch with my providers who were also abstaining.  Some of them saw their careers ending . As things developed I began to realize that this was going to be a long haul and could destroy the sex industry.
      After two months I came to re-evaluate my position. I knew that the covid19 infection could be passed by breathing the air in the same space as someone else so having sex was no more likely to pass the infection than riding in a car together.
    However the infection can only be passed from one who is infected. I found out that a provider who was close to me had been tested and found negative. We discussed our situation and  she agreed to nclean her house thoroughly and we would shower together and scrub each other before proceeding.  It turned out to be a great reunion and I felt no fear.  The next week I was able to get tested and proved negative so we did it again..
  Testing, testing, testing. Alll the experts say is the key to controlling this pandemic. It has been hard to come by for a number of reasons but is now available for free in LA county.  Is it foolproof? No but  it certainly eases the anxiety about 2 people enjoying each other.  Providers and clients should get tested frequently.  More often than for STDs  then we can individually assess the degree of risk we are willing to tolerate in order to enjoy the things which make life worth living..
