Mod changes??

I was browsing the general boards and came upon the topic regarding the changes in the way moderators are used. Will there be such changes here?

I am sure I would have found the answer somewhere in there but in this land of instant gratification, I wanted an answer now!

I have been only a member of TER since 2010 but I have had a great experience with the mods especially Beat and Apollo. They have treated me fair and have always presented a justifiable answer when some of my posts were taken down. I hope that the LA board is not affected, is it?

The changes are in hopes of allowing more newbies and tolerant posts. The owners say they do not like us pointing out when a noob asks the same question that has been addresses countless times over the years. Now I do not know when and how they learned the net but I come from the old days of bbs and other services. If you were a noob and did not read the FAQ or keep quiet to learn but just blurted out questions, then you deserved to have your ass handed to you by the veterans. Basically you had to learn your way around and take some lumps, kind of like real life. So why change that? The tweeter and Google make people lazy, this is the result. A bunch of crybabies don’t want to learn to use search or how to find out if an ad is legit past the first results page.

I had to learn my way around all those years ago, why does someone now get a pass?

I am concerned with allowing agency owners and providers to be cruise directors. This opens up a can of worms and conflicts of interest on many levels if they are able to see our aliases and IP addresses. Now add to that mix a rotation of volunteers, great so what happens when a drama queen or white knight is on rotation and you post something they personally don’t like about their besty or ATF? You mostly likely will get outted. By the way, mods have leaked such information. The mods have to learn the site policies; will the cruise director have to as well?

According the post by DBA, the mod power will remain with customer service. But what powers will the cruise director have? Will they be able to place you on moderate since they are charged to facilitate banter, move things along? Will they see your alias and IP address?

Funtimes61 said that a non-native speaker from customer service will be over all mod, that also concerns me to some degree, more about the issues he mentioned regarding understanding or misunderstanding nuances, especially regional ones.

This is a reviewer site, plain and simple. I certainly do not agree with the slimy ways of the founder and his cadre but when the new site admins took over I found things ran smoother. I like that the ladies have an ad board, should have been done years ago. I like that they get a free membership so that they can use the site’s resources but again, this is a board for reviewers. I am concerned that real information exchange will no longer be welcomed on the regional boards due to bias from cruise directors.

This is a horrible idea. I am considering no longer paying my VIP membership and I have been doing so for a long time.

If I can’t find value as in valid information and the ability to exchange that information, then why be a VIP member.

There is a train wreck going on on the Florida board. Over the past two years TER has become awesome. I never was as active as I am now and have been a member since 2006. Beat rocks! He just runs a smooth board. I look at some of the other cities and just shake my head. (Bond rocks too).

From what I understand is the "Cruise Mods" will not know peoples alias and IP addresses. But, I could be wrong. But thats what I got out of my research.

I have never chose to hide behind a alias to kick up dust a be mean to people but i'm sure the ones that have are going to be shaking in there boots. What I am concerned about is clients and providers being able to see IP addresses.

1) So what happens if a provider has a client with clingy ways? If he becomes part of this "cruise rotation" will he have all her IP info?

2) What about the guys who have been mean and rude hiding behind alias forever, will everyone who volunteers for this "cruise mod position" be able to finally see who the person is? :)

but I do know that some of the TER boards are totally out of control. (Thankfully, not the LA board.)  I have served as a moderator on a fetish site for the past 12 years. It's smaller than TER, but we have thousands of members around the world. We would never allow the sort of hateful and demeaning posts that are routinely allowed here. The vicious group attacks and the constant belittling of new members is completely out of bounds for any forum that strives to have meaningful discussions. I don't even bother looking at the GD board anymore because it's nothing but a bunch of a cranky old men yelling at people.

Again, I don't know if the changes will fix the problem, but at least they are making an attempt. It may just turn out that the problem is beyond fixable at this point.
