Low - T

The Low-T product that's being advertised mostly contains Saw Palmetto if I remember correctly.  That works for some people, but can cause some problems for others.  In any case, you can buy SP a lot cheaper at any store that sells supplements if you want to give it a try.

All of us feel the effects of aging, which is what makes the premise of their ad so misleading.  Of course we're not the men we were 20 years ago- nobody is or ever will be.  So just because you answer yes to that question doesn't necessarily mean you need their product.

I've used the gels and think it does offer some "improvements" in mood, libido, etc. Though the topic is getting a lot of attention, the long term affects are still open for debate--at least that's my understanding of it. I think it's also dependent on the type supplementation you use. I don't believe the gels are quite as potent--if you use the prescribed amounts, as the injections. There are several types of injectable testosterone: enanthate, proprionate, cypionate and phenylproprionate. (No doubt others too)

I've also used the injectables many years ago and they're better IMHO than the gels, which are quite mild by comparison.

I think this topic has been discussed elsewhere on this forum and I replied to it too, but don't know that it was approved by the mods.

Keep in mind there are side effects and the stronger the med, the higher the liklihood for side effects. Your best bet would be to consult with an endocronolgist and have both your testosterone and free form testosterone evaluated.

and since you're only 53, you're not allowed on the over 60.

Go to a real doctor and specifically get tested for low T, it's just a blood test.  It's important.   Your drop in studness may be caused by any number of other things.   If you do have low T (for your age) get a prescribed patch or gel.  Most insurance doesn't cover them and they're not cheap.   The patches are about $300 a month if you use them everyday.  No supplments or roots, they are in large part scams and don't treat low T.   You'll feel the difference, mostly in mood and general energy level but it won't be dramatic.   Sexual desire increases to a degree but again, nothing dramatic.   You won't walk around with ranging hard on like you did in your 20's and the perscriptions won't help your performance.    Age is age.   No getting around it.

Most insurances do cover injections or gels. They do require prior authorization with proof from a lab that T Levels are below the normal range  to prove that it is medically necessary.

If you simply want to boost to your low  testosterone (but in the normal range)  then insurance won't cover it.

The patches are outdated. Now there is a gel that you apply everyday (usually on your shoulders) that is far more effective and easier to administer than injections.

Far fewer bar fights.
Fewer tickets from 'aggressive driving'.
Overall less aggressive demeanor.

I'm all for make'n your pecker hard; but re-vitalizing the very hormone that encourages temerity should have a doctors oversight. Besides! the shit they sell on the 1-800 commercials is just that; Shit!
