I'm partial to the CRESCENT Beverly Hills.  It's very discrete, cool, and usually runs 170 for the night.  On the lessor expensive side in Hollywood there is the ORLANDO.

look for hotels in Hollywood or Beverly Hills...do not stay by the airport(takes hours to get there due to traffic)

It's about $200 a night. Ideal location to entertain the white-collar crowd in West L.A. (Olympic Blvd near Century Park West). There is a Ralph's supermarket right across the street if you need to stock up on supplies for the night. And, yes, they sell alcohol - lots of it!  

Hotel Angeleno. Where the 405 meets Sunset Blvd.
Freeway handy with moderate prices and nice clean rooms.
Easy parking on or off premises and very discreet.
Probably best bet on west side of L.A.
