I spend my beginning years sticking my pole into something I didn't really see, and if I did, it was just a patch of hair. It wasn't until I was married that I got the interest to check things out more closely. She was a blonde, with a very thin pubic patch, so it made it easier to see what I was doing!  ;)

I do know I wanted to get right down and taste it. This adage comes to mind. "Once you get past the hair, you've got it half licked". The teens back then wanted to have hair to show their maturity. And also how I had no fucking clue what to do next.  So I reached down to kiss her there.  Ugh! She'd already put on a bunch of (non-edible) lube. We actually had a good laugh about it and then got back on track.  And I haven't stopped kissing them since.
