I love being low risk.

Most of the guys around since 2000 probably don't realize just how much the hobby sucked before the movement to the Internet.  I used to have to use publications like LA Express in this area and another one on the East Coast.  You never knew what you were going to get.  Usually no photos, definitely no reviews, just a short ad with phone number.  All you had was your gut instinct when talking to the lady on the phone.  I was still able to fine quality providers that way because they also had to use the same methods.  But the risk of a guy walking into a scam were significantly higher.  Also the ladies usually really had no idea what they were walking into when they first met a guy.

About the only safe way to meet a provider then was if a provider would introduce you to one of her girlfriend providers.  They didn't do that much because they would worry they might lose the client.

It is so much easier and safer now.  OMG, I can't imagine having to go back to the old system.

The only plus the old system had, if you were an adrenaline junkie, was that you got much more of adrenaline rush just before meeting someone new because you had no idea what she was like or how it would go down.  Needless to say I REALLY had my guard up in those days when first meeting someone.  It really sucked compared to today

but I have to admit I enjoyed the adrenaline rush of the old days.
I never saw anyone from the LA Xpress but I called a few ladies up.
Many had that girl next door voice that got your hopes up but who know what she was like in person.

I used to hit the old strip club scene in LA. It was so much fun exploring different clubs, talking to so many different dancers and then being discrete in finding the ones that did extras.   I got burned many of times but got lucky many of times as well.  The ladies had to feel comfortable you were not big brother and you had to do the same.  That was when the adrenaline rush kicked in, which is why the happy ending was way more intense. Once you were cool, she would tell other dancers and then you had a group of regulars. Jealousy was an issue and many ladies got super competitive with each other and stopped sharing customers.  When TER came online, I did not partake on TER much because I was doing fine in the clubs.  There were a few clubs that were operating like brothels, you could get anyone and anything you wanted.  Slowly, the club scene died down and the dancers and pornstars that were in the clubs migrated over to TER

Sites like TER have dramatically improved and made this a safer activity but the risk is still there.  In response to the article and comparing it with all my years playing, this is nothing new.  Its the same game plan but with a different package.  I remember clubs getting raided because of all the used condoms being found in the surrounding neighborhoods.  The trafficking part is totally wrong but to lump consenting adults in with that bunch is just as wrong but its the only way local entities can secure extra money for their departments.

Play safe and smart

That's interesting that you had luck with the strip club scene.  I didn't.  But then I didn't really have have the time to spend scoping it out and also did not really try in L.A.  I visited Huntsville, AL a lot them and had my eye on this one lady that I saw a lot.  But I never could talk her into it, in fact no guys could.  Also, tried in the DC area but it just took too much effort to filter through the ladies.  I figured if I got burned some using the publications in LA and the east coast, I still would be wasting less money than it would have taken to filter through ladies at a strip club.

I still remember when I first learned of TER.  My review of the provider who told me about TER is still up and is my second review here.  Every time I would land at LAX, first order of business was to try and call her and leave my beeper number if she didn't answer.  (Beepers, LOL, there is an old tool of the trade that's beyond being a dinosaur now.)  She was definitely a consistent 8/9 on performance.  My main complaint was she could be quite forgetful and often forget about appointments made much in advance.  She also gave me a nice discount, but a couple of times forgot about our discount arrangement.  After I left a couple of times, she called me about it and I was like, "remember......you said in the future it would be XXX".  Then all of a sudden the light bulb would turn on in her head.  But overall she was really cool.  Don't know what ever happened to her, either relocated or eventually got out of the business I guess.

I'm still very active in the stripclub scene- much more so then the escorting world. I still find them superior hunting grounds for all types of fun, and one thing that I like (besides the thrill of the hunt) is the ability to just go on a whim and see what happens. Can't really do that in this world :(

Great article, now if only all these so called elected officials and law enforcement would leave us alone!  ;)

but I just don't have the time it takes to make it work.  It did work once for me, kind of.  Just not as I expected.  I went home with a stripper.  But after the second time I saw her she was acting like she was ready to make wedding plans, telling me she loved me, getting obsessive.  I'm so glad it was a different state than I lived on.  Got the hell out of there and never when to that club again.  With providers in general there is a reasonably clear expectation of what the arrangement is.  Yeah, you would think so with strippers also, but it wasn't my experience.  This Internet way just seems so much easier to me.

...but the payoff can be wonderful, and rival this hobby in opportunities.
But just like most things in life, you have to be careful to avoid the perils (the multitude of BSC strippers out there) and learn to make on the spot good decisions.

Definitely not a sport for the naive or squeamish! :

I just got home from a club tonight since two ladies just flaked out on me tonight.
Two ladies gave me their numbers, so we will see what happens.

The hunting experience is what makes it fun. Sometimes it does not work out for you and other times it does.
What is fun, is the talking - socializing aspect to the club scene.  You get to feel out different dancers and see if you will click with them or not.  There is the hustling upselling part of it but you just need to be smart with those strippers and play hard ball.

This part of the hobby world has been great but its not much of a spurr of the moment thing anymore.  Rates are higher, ladies do not have regular incall, this is part time for many ladies and screening seems to take longer and longer now.
All of which are serious concerns but can prevent a spurr of the moment rendezvous.

How could I forget that archaic means of communication we used to us back then.

i still have my old pager.  Whenever it vibrated, it was a booty call.
I had one dancer always paging me and when I called her up, she was like my macy's bill is due today, can i suck your cock?

I miss pagers lol
