I don't think it's a put-down at all. If it's someone she met only once and it was several months ago, then she might need him to contact her & remind her about when & where they met; and what they talked about or anything memorable that happened during their appointment.  

But it's never a knock on a guy if a provider doesn't instantly recall him.. not all ladies keep notes. If a reference can't verify you, just send her a message & give her a few details.... and I'm willing to bet it'll come right back.
