LA times big piece today on Asians with Hep 3 it says that almost one in five carry it unknowingly unless tested. Being a huge fan of Asian venues I found this a lot disconcerting. I wonder if the Wilshire brigade teal do any simple testing.

...with CHRONIC Hepatitis B, i.e., people who were infected from birth and have had it for decades.

If you get Hep B from an Asian provider, your liver won't fall out but it is another item to put on the list of things for which to get checked.

I remember there have been a couple of outbreaks of hep "A" at restaurants, one even being a fancy one, because of dirty cooks.  "B" requires more intimate contact.

About Asia and hepatitis, this isn't actually new info.  That's why it's recommended that before traveling there people should get vaccinated for "A" and "B".  *no vaccination for C

I'm actually surprised why it isn't brought up by physicians to just take it whether or not you're travelling since it's pretty easy to contract "A".  I bet some people aren't even aware that vaccinations exists!!!  Maybe Michael Douglas should step in and make a PSA about hep the way he spoke up about hpv :)

Take care and play safe.
