Turkey Indienne. It was kind of like a turkey stew/soup. It was not necessarily my ATF but I did like it a lot, and she didn't make it very often. I found the recipe on the internet, however, I have no idea if it's the same one she used.
...and the people had to to scrounge around to find something to eat. They used rations from American military bases, so my grandmother made budae jjigae from whatever was around. Usually it had hot dogs, Spam, whatever veggies she could rustle up and she spiced it up with peppers.
When she came to the U.S, gramma made it for us with ground beef, baked beans, onions, macaroni, mushrooms and whatever else that was left over. It's similar to the American Mulligan stew which was made by hoboes who shared whatever food they stole and threw it all in one pot to cook. What's surprising is that it's still popular in Korea and you can also find in here in many Korean restaurants. Who the hell wants to be nostalgic and remember those hard times?
