Prostitution Ring Busted - federal or state charges, or both?

I can't remember where I read about it;  it was federal agents from ICE because these girls were being brought here illegally from eastern Europe.  Will these women face federal immigration charges and be deported; or will they also face state charges of prostitution and serve prison time?  I'm sure the people the prosecutors want the most are the men who were in charge.

This was local news.  If anyone remembers where the story appeared, please post a link.

of taking the leap again, something like this hits the news, and the itch goes away!

is that the women will not be criminally prosecuted if they agree to provide evidence against the organizers. As you say, that is clearly who the prosecutors want to nail.

I assume the women will be deported, but I also expect there will be consequences of some significance for them. There will certainly be some kind of immigration record kept on them that will impact future travel to the US.

I dont see how they could be prosecuted for prostitution since it does not sound like they were caught while engaged in it. But perhaps some kind of criminal conspiracy charge could be brought if the prosecutors were inclined to go after them for taking part in a criminal enterprise. That might be hard to prove, but it would obviously be horrifying for them if charges were brought, regardless of the actual evidence and ultimate outcome.

The way the SM police chief reacts to the arrests sounds like she sees the women as victims more than criminals, so it suggests she is not interested in prosecuting them. But I would not want to bet on how it would be handled.

It is serious and scary and a good reminder of how these activities are viewed by many. The organized foreign travel aspect appears to be the critical element that is causing the prosecution to react so strongly.

After seeing how this is being handled, anyone who imagines the K world activities are not being watched carefully is living in a fantasy world. It is hard not to reconsider taking part after reading this news.

"Too good to be true," suddenly has a new meaning.

with agencies from my favorites list. Same reason I stay away from the Asian girls in San Gabriel Valley.
