and what kind place is cool to you. Here's some random places that I like.
On Melrose and Gower there's Pour Vous. It's a nice spot.
On Fairfax, check the Kibitz room inside of Canter's. There's some cool little bar across the street, but I forgot the name of it.
If you're feeling the Tiki vibe, you've got to hit the Tiki-Ti on West Sunset near Virgil. You can smoke there, legally. It's super small. Don't forget to bring cash. Close by on Hillhurst is Good Luck Bar, The Drawing Room and Ye Rustic Inn. The later 2 are divey. But, that hasn't kept the celebs away.
For a sportsbar and "Irish" vibe, there's Dillion's on Hollywood and Vine. Super cheap pints. Close by next to the Pantages is the Frolic room. A classic!
Can't go wrong with The Formosa Cafe on Santa Monica Blvd. Insane Hollywood history there.
In Culver City, try Seventy7 Lounge. It's somewhat hidden and off the street behind another bar. Cool 20's vibe, dark.
The Roger Room on N. La Cienega is a cool little bar. Very interesting drinks, though pricey.
Hope that helps.
